Formerly an office building known as the Provident Life Building it was designed by AS & RA Eggleston in an early form of International Modernism, Built in 1937 it is one of the first examples of a European functionalist style of office building. This modern top level apartment (12th floor) was built in 1994. It is one of only three Penthouses and has just been significantly upgraded in Art Deco style (new water heater, new medium firm wowbed matrasses, both bedrooms and bathrooms). The access to Penthouses is private and secure through a door and stairs. It is one of the very few properties in Melbourne CBD that has a genuine size balcony (8 m length) and two additional bedroom balconies (94 sqm internal, 22 sqm external) and a car park in the building. The location, its generous size and its cozy factor make it stand out in the crowd of other newly built apartments in the area. But the reason we fell in love with Madison is its location. Right next to the W hotel and surrounded by Melbourne's iconic cafes and touristic sites it stands out as a quiet refuge in the midst of Melbourne's attractions. Our Penthouse is equipped with all the amenities one would expect for a longer stay. Our kitchen was designed by a chef and it comes with a small butlers pantry/laundry and of course with dishwasher, washing machine and dryer as well as many useful kitchen tools for cooking and entertaining (all high quality). You will enjoy those balmy Melbourne nights sitting out with your friends overlooking the city while sipping on a glass of Shiraz. Our car park is accessible via one of the narrow laneways which makes it suitable to cars smaller than station wagons or large SUVs (Audi4, BMW3 series size is fine). The automatic garage leads securely to the residencess. The building itself has recently undergone upgrades and renovations to windows, intercom, elevator and tiling in the lobby area.
