Devonport, Auckland, New Zealand
We are academics going on sabbatical from July 2012 to February 2013. Our house is approx. 100 years old and in Devonport on Auckland’s North Shore. This is one of New Zealand’s oldest suburbs and is full of restored, character homes. http://www.devonport.co.nz/index.htm
Devonport is on the end of a peninsula and is surrounded by sea and beaches. A regular ferry (every 15 minutes at peak hours) runs to the city (12 minute crossing) where The University of Auckland and AUT are located, and there is a road route also, over the harbour bridge. The house is within walking distance of shops, beaches, and public transport.
The fully furnished house has 2 bedrooms, a lounge, a study that can be used as bedroom, a family room that is used as lounge and dining room, a modern kitchen, and bathroom renovated about 6 years ago. The family room, kitchen and bathroom are part of a recent addition to the rear of the house and look out over a private garden with fruit trees. There is central heating in the original part of the house.
The rental includes a basic Sky TV package, free local phone calls, broadband internet (20GB per month). Gas and electricity are paid by the tenant.
Agreements for rental properties in New Zealand are administered by a government department Department of Building and Housing (http://www.dbh.govt.nz/tenancy-index ) and a bond will be lodged with them.
