A beautiful and originally decorated duplex apartment is available all year around in historic center of Vicenza, Italy. Ideal writer reatreat. Has a large, eat-in kitchen, vast sitting-room and a big double-bedroom upstair. Two beautiful terraces full of plants and flowers. Ideal for couple. In historical center and pedestrian area of the city. Vicenza is a beautiful Palladian jewel, 30 min. train ride from Venice, 15 from Padua.The Main square , Piazza dei SIgnori, is next door. Great for cappuccinos in the morning, to enjoy a spritz (local cocktail) in late afternoon, or a delicious gelato offered by the many gelaterias in the vicinity. In Verona you can enjoy Italian opera 'al fresco' in the Arena during the summer, you can travel to Venice to visit the Biennale or just sit back and relax in the beautiful main square in Vicenza, a magnificent architectural example by renaissance architect Andrea Palladio. It is truly Italy but quiet and outside of the usual tourist (and crowded) circuits. A rare experience of your own.

We had a very nice stay here over the winter. Francesca was responsive and helpful. The apartment is on a quiet street, but very close to public transportation and a great outdoor market. Excellent mayae 1/29/2013 9:00:00 AM
We loved our stay in Vincenza in this apartment. We were high enough that it was extremely quiet for center of the city Italy.

The kitchen is functional and there is a market in the main plaza twice weekly for fresh groceries and other shopping. The plaza is perhaps 150 m. walk.

We ate many meals on the porch just off the kitchen. A photo of the view is featured in this listing.

Our favorite gelato shop after exploring several is Tutti Gelati. It is off one of the squares that connect to the plaza. Our go-to place for lunch or dinner is Osteria il Cursore.

The master bedroom has an excellent bed although we did buy some extra pillows at the market.

We usually walked from the apartment to the train station or the bus station. You can also get a cab by turning right from the front door of the apartment bldg about 100 m.

Be aware that this is a fourth floor walkup. It is about 84 steps and an additional 15 or so to the bedroom. There are landings where you can catch your breath although I got used to it in a few days.

On the building ground floor there is an excellent delicatessen. The wine selection is superb - everything from the local plonk to Amarones that are world class.

The last week in June was fairly hot. I slept okay using the fan in the bedroom but my wife used the couch in the living room with AC.

All in all, we loved our stay in Vicenza and this apartment. The location of the apartment is right in the middle of Palladio's area. It is well worth reading up on this marvelous architect before visiting so you can appreciate his worldwide influence.
