Cozy attic in the heart of Paris

The apartment/attic (approx. 45 sqm) is located in a well-known street of the Quartier Latin at 50 m from the Saint-Michel place and at 2 min walk from Notre-Dame, the Cité island and the nicest waterfront walkways of the Seine river; 10 min walk to the Louvre. It is very charming, formerly a painter’s atelier at the 5th and last floor of a typical renaissance building. It is composed of a very bright spacious reception room (in bricks and wood beams) with a bay-window oriented East and two wide windows oriented West; a furnished kitchen (fridge, freezer, washing machine) with a window on the street that can serve as a bright small dining room; a bathroom with bathtub with shower, bidet, lavabo. Above the kitchen and the bathroom lies a mezzanine, closed and thus separated from below by a door and from the nearby (upper part of the) reception room by wood beams and windows. The mezzanine has a small “door-window” with a view on Notre Dame that gives access to the roof. Windows on the street have double glazing. Neighbors are agreeable. Individual apartment heating (gas heater).

L'appartement (approx. 45 m2) est situé dans une rue (piétonne) caractéristique du quartier latin très près de la place Saint-Michel et de Notre Dame. Très accueillant et plein de charme c’était autrefois un atelier d'artiste, situé au 5ème et dernier étage. Il est composé d'un ample salon, d'une cuisine romantique, d’une salle de bain moderne, et d’une mezzanine mansardée.
Le salon très lumineux en briques est traversé de poutres anciennes, avec deux fenêtres (côté ouest, donnant sur la rue) et une baie vitrée (côté est, donnant sur les toits d'une cour interne). La cuisine, donnant sur la rue, est bien équipée (frigo, congélateur, lave-linge, matériel abondant) et peut servir de petite salle à manger. La salle de bain, confortable avec baignoire et espace-douche, bidet, WC et lavabo, a été dernièrement rénovée. Au-dessus de la cuisine et de la salle de bain, une mezzanine fermée, équipée d'un lit double et qui peut servir de chambre à coucher séparée, donne sur le toit par une petite porte-fenêtre avec vue sur Notre-Dame. Les fenêtres sur rue ont un double vitrage (protection sonore efficace). Copropriétaires del’immeuble agréables, sélectionnés. Chauffage individuel.

This is a truly delightful, cosy duplex attic in the heart of the Latin Quarter. Opera lovers could recognize it as the setting for the first scene of Puccini's La bohème, but when I stayed there it was not cold - a very romantic building in which to pass a very pleasant stay. Although there are many tourists in the narrow mediaeval streets during the day and early evening, it is peaceful at night. The charming couple,who own this place, were accommodating, friendly and most helpful in every way. One could not ask for nicer or more honest hosts. I can thoroughly recommend this sabbatical home.
