About I'm English, have two children, live just outside Paris and rent out three cute studios (each sleep two people) - two in Montmartre and one on the edge of the Marais. They are all available weekly.

My wife and I lived in the Rue Feutrier studio for three months from January to March 2012 while I did dissertation work in Parisian archives. The apartment is small, but very efficiently arranged, so it never felt tiny. It's probably best for one individual, but the two of us found it just fine while we lived there.

The location is great- a very nice residential strip in between the tourist areas of Sacre Coeur and the great African neighborhood of Chateau Rouge. The 2 and 4 metro lines are very close by (five mins to the 4 and about eight to the 2), so it's easy to get anywhere you need to go in the city pretty easily. I'm not sure if this is the same building as the other commentator, but the building was just repainted and new security doors installed while we lived there, and it never felt unsafe or threatening in the neighborhood, which was usually just quiet at night (with the exception of a few popular bars on the corner on Fridays, which you can never hear from the apartment anyways). In general the neighborhood is very residential and the street itself gets much less foot (and vehicle) traffic than the surrounding roads.

Alexandra was a great landlord. When we had a problem, she was there the next day, and whenever we had a question she was very quick to respond. She was always very accommodating and friendly.

In reference to listing 44865:

I slightly hesitate to leave a "disappointing" rating, but the fact is that this place was robbed the first day we were there. Thieves drilled out both door locks and stole all of our electronics (laptop, cell phones, mp3 players...) while we were gone sightseeing for about 5 hours on our first full day. The security door in the lobby was rarely closed during our entire stay. Because we were robbed almost immediately after arriving, my worry is that another resident of the building has discovered that tourists stay at this apartment, and either tipped off a friend that they are a juicy target, or decided to steal from them himself. I don't know.

Alexandra (the owner) was very nice, and got a new lock on the door that night, though she did not offer to compensate us for any of our lost gear, or give us any kind of discount. Our home insurance deductible ended up being too high to cover anything.

Other than that, the apartment was in a very good location, and was perfectly serviceable (though very small by American standards. If you are overweight there is a real possibility you won't fit in the shower. It is minute. --both my wife and I are tall but reasonably slim and it was okay. The water pressure is an absolute trickle--like a drinking fountain, no exaggeration. I'm not sure if this is par for the course in Paris, or if this place was particularly bad). The fold out futon bed was surprisingly comfortable, and worked for me (6'5"). It was great having a kitchen.

If it wasn't for my reservations about the safety of this place, I would certainly give it a "good" rating. And the price is right after all!

Note from the lister: Sadly a burglary occurred in the studio, the first ever, during building works in the courtyard of the building opposite the studio. It appears the builders (a team of foreign builders) not only broke the front door of the building itself, rendering it impossible to close automatically, but also were responsible for the break-in of two studios in the building, not only my studio with tourists in it. Since then the front door of the building has been changed, the security lock changed, the front door of the studio also changed. The buildng works also explain the very poor water pressure to the studio as it turns out the water in the building was indeed often turned off during this time. Thankfully the building works have finished and life is back to normal! A comment received from a tenant in the studio this morning reads: 'Your place is super cute, loving it!'
