Spacious and secluded Loft in town

My fabulous Santa Cruz loft/studio is for rent by the week or month - and sometimes for a few days at a time. I am flexible about the actual dates and duration at this point.

Next opening starts July 1, 2013

The studio is behind our main house but very private. It is a good distance away nestled in the trees - in fact it is further from our house then most Santa Cruz houses are from one another. It is a loft style space with high ceilings, a gas fireplace, sleeping loft with sky light and door, separate full kitchen, private deck, good storage etc - about 500-600 sq feet I think. You can't hear us and we can't hear you. Our place is half a mile to downtown Santa Cruz and a mile to the beach and on the bus lines to the university. It has its own washer and dryer and a parking space in the driveway. I usually use it as my office and our guest space - it is a special tranquil place that feels miles away from everything but is in the middle of everything. Around the corner you can find the best bakery in town, a fantastic local market, music venues, restaurants etc but inside the house you will think you are in the woods far away. It is a terrific place to write.

The house has a unique layout - see the photos. The main room has lofted ceilings, and lots of windows. It is set up into four areas - living room, office, dining room and sleeping alcove (can also be another sitting area if you prefer). Up the ladder there is a sleeping loft with a queen futon and a single mattress on the floor. This space has a pocket door for privacy and a skylight for air/light. The kitchen is separate and off the kitchen is a private deck. The bathroom has a full bath/shower. There are two large closets inside, storage and washer dryer are under the studio.

Rent is based on time of year and duration of rental. It ranges from a low of $600 a week in the winter to a high of $800 a week in the summer (summer month = $2,600). Discounts for months and multiple months. (ie: 1 winter month = $2,100. Two plus winter months = $2,000 etc) All utilities and internet included - except phone.

Please note: The sleeping alcove has a foam sofa that makes into a foam topped sleeping surface topped with a feather bed. The sleeping loft has a foam mattress and a single mattress. The sleeping surfaces are considered very firm.

The laundry facility is in an unfinished cellar accessed by an external staircase.
