Tours is located south west from Paris, 55 mn by TGV, on the Loire River, in the middle of the wine country and surrounded by many castles. The city (150 000 people) hosts the Institut de Touraine (language learning), the Institut de la Renaissance, the F-Rabelais University (25 000 students), many theaters and a few museums, among other attractions.

The apartment is on the 5th floor (with elevator), eastward looking over the city’s roofs, 535 sf.: one bedroom, one living/dining room, a Parisian (galley) kitchen, a bathroom (complete) and an entrance. The apartment feels roomy and pleasant, and has been renovated. In spring and summer, one can sit on the little balcony, which opens off the living room. There are very large windows in all rooms, so that there is morning light and plentiful sun in the apartment. Windows have rolling blinds and curtains. All rooms have parquet wood floors (except the kitchen and bath).

The apartment is secure, with a reinforced door and a three-point security lock. The building itself is a large apartment block. Entrance to building is locked, and a concierge is living in one of the first floor apartments.

Beds: a king size bed in the bedroom with excellent mattress; a queen size convertible sofa is in the living room for occasional visitors. Four arm chairs, six chairs and the three seat sofa, a large dining table and a desk table. All furnished with high quality furniture (except for two older chairs), including a Louis XVI dining table and chairs. Area rugs cover the floors in all rooms.

TV set, VCR, DVD player in the living room. Cable and phone line are installed. Appliances include: washing machine, dryer, dishwasher, microwave, electric oven, electric range, fridge and freezer.

The apartment is conveniently located near Les Halles and the Institute of Touraine, a bit further for Rue National and La Gare, but it is on a bus line. Two parks are within easy walking distance, Prebonds and the Botanical Gardens--both verdant and full of huge trees and many roses and fountains. On Sundays, there is a French Market across the street from the apartment, a true convenience, but a small supermarket is just downstairs, and bakeries, cleaners, and small cafes all within walking distance. The area is quiet and affordable.
