house with charming garden in hilltop village in Luberon, Provence
Two level village house with fabulous views south over the Luberon toward Lacoste and Bonnieux. Peaceful, private and lush walled garden, a heavenly place to relax and dine under a vine covered pergola.
The house is on two levels, with the main living on the top floor. It has a living room with fireplace, a small but adequate kitchen, a dining room (seats 8), bedroom with a king sized bed, ceiling fan, and en suite bathroom with shower, WC and sink. Although the house has been extended, its original features date back about two centuries.
On the lower level the house has a a marvelous vine covered dining terrace surrounded by ancient stone walls, making it completely private. Inside on the ground floor there is a twin bedroom with en suite shower room with WC and sink with separate entrance through the garden. The summer kitchen has a full sized refrigerator with freezer, two burner electric hobs, and sink. There is an automatic washing machine and dryer here as well. A storage room contains the garden furniture, etc.
Goult is a charming medieval hill village placed at the center of the famous Luberon Valley (see Peter Mayle, A Year in Provence.) Menerbes, Oppede, Lacoste, Bonnieux, Roussillon, and Gordes are all within six miles of Goult. The village of 1200 supports a delightful bakery, two butchers, an old fashioned epicerie, four restaurants, and the famous Cafe de la Poste, hub of all that is chic in this friendly setting.
We are an hour north of Marseille Airport and perhaps 45 minutes from the Avignon TGV station. Touring opportunities abound, including Aix-en-Provence, Arles, Avignon, Orange, St. Remy-de-Provence: the list is endless.
