Quiet authentic country farm house IN THE HEART OF CENTRAL ITALY -convenient location
Come and spend time in this authentic farm house belonging to the Sorbello Estate, which dates back centures. The building was first a Roman watch tower, and then a granery. This spacious apartment is referred to as The Granery. There are 2 large bedroom; this home is very reasonably priced for any length of stay so that you can base here to tour all of central Italy. Great for 2 or more, priced for an economic stay.
The ground floor double glass door entry opens onto the garden and has blissful views out over the valley. The Kitchen, living room and one double bedroom are on the ground floor, another 2 bedrooms with twin beds and bath are on the second floor.
These farmhouses are referred to as "colonica". This Colonica is in the green and beautiful rolling countryside right on the Tuscany Umbria border, not far from Cortona, and not far from Perugia, Gubbio, Assisi, and many fascinating hill towns.
Live for an extended period or come and tour Tuscany & Umbria while based at this economical authentic farmhouse. This is a rustic structure, basic but comfortable, not remodeled for tourism purposes. This is a perfect place to steal away to write or paint, or just forget the rest of the world. If you want to be able to truly experience central Italy, this is an authentic and comfortable home to do so from or, just stay here and live the Italian country life.
The Sorbello castle sits across the valley on the opposing hill in direct view of the farmhouse. Here sharecropping farmers lived and worked until the 1960's.
The "colonica" is built of rock with thick walls which keep the house cool in the summer.
A wonderful place to stay from June through September. The house is available in May, but May can be a bit chilly.
Easily reached on 1 chilometer of farm road from the statale road connecting Mercatale di Cortona and Umbertide. Easy to find on Google Maps, near Le Capabnine Restaurant on the Tuscan-Umbrian border.

The colonica is surrounded on three sides by cultivated fields and pastures, and from above by Oak and Chestnut forest; it is a wonderful area for walks, hiking, and mountain biking. There is a large garden space with table and chairs,the lawn borders on the cultivated field.
Long stays are favored and we will give you our best offer for stays of over 3 weeks. But, if you cannot stay for a long time, come and enjoy this authentic Tuscan country home for as long as you can. Available at a very favorable rate for the whole summer.
Although this very large apartment has 3 bedrooms we prefer to only accommodate up to 4 persons. If you are a larger group, just let us know.
Also in this colonica is a stylish 1 bedroom home with separate entrance, patio and garden and a loving special kitty. This apartment is rented when the owner is not in residence. This apartment is a home, not a typical rental, and it reflects the artistry and travels of the owner. Similar economical rates apply. Special 2 month winter rates and longer term rates for cat loving people.
