Paris 14th Arrondissment

FOR RENT IN PARIS (14TH ARRONDISSMENT) Our apt is available for 1 August 2014 to 30 June 2015.

Our apt rents far in advance and is now renting from 1 Aug 2014 to 30 June 2015. Here is a recent tenant's description: "This gem of an apartment offers a truly Parisian existence. The Hausmann era 19th century building has beautiful details such as molded door frames and 9 foot ceilings, metal shutters opening onto wrought iron balconies. It is clean and well maintained.

Perfect for a couple alone or with one or two children, the living room separates both bedrooms each with a French window and balcony. The light filled kitchen is large and modern by Paris standards. It’s in a great neighborhood for families, markets, shops and schools and is not far from Parc Montsourri. Away from tourists yet all the wonders of Paris are easily accessible by bus, metro, tram or on foot.

Our sabbatical year in Paris was wonderful, thanks to this apartment and to the attentive, ever-gracious landlord, Sean."

The Details:
Two bedroom, completely renovated, fully modernized apartment in the 14th at Leclerc/Alesia neighborhood looking out on Alphonse Daudet (see map below for general location). It's 70 square meters, furnished with everything from linens to a micorwave to a wireless DSL, tv, and phone with free calls to France and 40 other countries. A classic Parisian apartment, it's on 5th floor with elevator in a 19th century building; bright, elegant with beautiful ceilings showing a salamander and human faces, with 2 small balconies. Modern bath/shower and separate toilet fully updated. New washer and fridge. The apartment faces Alphonse Daudet with double glazed windows and iron shutters. It offers a dining/livingroom and eat-in kitchen with two south windows. Bedrooms and living rooms get morning sun. Kitchen faces south for afternoon sun.

Ideal for a family with two children near excellent primary and secondary schools welcoming to guests from abroad. Haut debit wifi via Dartybox at about 45 euros a month for phone, internet and tv ; details at Dartybox.com. Shared space in our cave. The building has a resident guardian and doctor.

Metro is "Alesia," line 4, a half block away. Buses runs on Leclerc (#38 and 62) and Alesia, which goes to the BN (bus no. 68). One bike included. The apartment is in the middle of a lively middle-class neighborhood with three supermarkets. A giant Carrefour is en face, Le Notre pastry shop is in the building, a Monop' two blocks up. Saibon bakery and pastry shop a half block up but there's an even better small bakery round the corner on Daudet. The apt is unsuited to tourism, but ideal for families living and working in Paris: strong lycees and colleges, small restaurants, clinics, 2 pharmacies, la poste, two multiplex cinemas a block up, hair salons, fashionable clothing, cheese and wine shops. Recently Paris added a car rental station offering 4 electric vehicles self service, day and night. 4 veliebs.

Below are links to neighborhood food markets (public) with days and hours; (2nd) the City of Paris that includes a treasure trove of detail about everything from the new tramway (two blocks south) to the Velibs everywhere. A new Monop (convenience grocery) two blocks and a second, a G20 grocery (2 blocks south) nearby are open early, late, and Sunday.

The quarter abounds in bakeries, fresh produce shops, markets, and cafes--new sushi across the street; the neighborhood ecole primaire, colleges, and lycees--are excellent. We have information from French neighbors, our own experience, and phone numbers to expedite enrolling in schools.

Parc Montsouris, one of Paris' largest, is a ten minute walk with pony rides for kids, a fine restaurant, and artisanal ice creams.

Available 1 August, 2014 to 30 June 2015, preferably by the year but also by the semester. The rent of 1930 euros a month, excluding utilities (last year's tenants paid about 120 euros a month in utilities). A deposit of one month will secure the apartment. IN COMPARING OUR RENT WITH OTHERS, BEAR IN MIND THAT WE PAY YOUR TAX D'HABITATION (ABOUT 1,100 EUROS), AN OBLIGATORY ANNUAL CITY TAX ON ON ALL WHO LIVE IN THE CITY OF PARIS, EVEN TEMPORARILY. We also pay apt. charges and of course property taxes. No fee for rental.

MORE FROM PREVIOUS TENANTS:

"We had a wonderful time at the apartment while on sabbatical leave last
year [2009]. The apartment is bright and sunny (plus those balconies are fun) and
in a great neighborhood. We've rented in Paris several times before and
were pleasantly surprised at how large and workable the kitchen is. Parc
Montsouris and the Cité Universitaire are a short walk away and we became
regulars at the Daudet café just around the corner. Getting around the city
was really easy too with the Metro and tramway so close. We were very happy
with Sean as our landlord. He's honest, attentive and great to work with."
..............................

"I wanted to say thanks again for everything. We had a terrific time, and your apartment was the perfect spot from which to venture forth. Lovely space in a lovely neighborhood."

.......................

"You have a very nice apartment in a great little corner of Paris."
...............................

"Thanks again; it was a true treat to have such a comfortable set
up in Paris. We have had a lovely time in your apartment - I especially enjoyed the crown moldings and the washing machine; the kids were thrilled with the bunk beds and the high speed internet connection. It turned out that several of my colleagues from UNESCO live within a few blocks."

We are eager to have you speak to our current and past tenants who can also help with school who can also help with school enrollments.
