3 Bedroom home near ocean, Central Coast of California

We live in an incredibly quiet neighborhood of well kept single family homes where people take pride in their homes and landscaping. It is a child friendly area (kids can actually play in the street) although the neighborhood has a large retired population. Our home is one story and has 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths. One bedroom is used as the TV room most of the time although we are not hooked up to cable- we watch DVDs from Netflix and the local library. The kitchen is good sized and easy to work in and the dining area includes a table that seats 6. The living room has a fireplace and a comfy seating area. We have lots of original art throughout the house some created by us and some purchased from artists and galleries. There is also an "extra" room/studio that we use for the computer and the various art and gardening projects in the works. Our home is clean and well kept.

The backyard has a hot tub that can accommodate 7 people, a patio with table and chairs and a chaise lounge. There are plantings surrounding the patio. The front yard is landscaped with Mediterranean and California native plants.
We are located on the Central Coast of California midway between Los Angeles and San Francisco ( 3 1/2 hour drive to each). The temperate climate of the area makes it a unique destination at any time of year. Temperatures in our coastal location range from the 40's to the 60's in the winter and 50's to high 70's in the summer. It is warmer inland in the summer. We can have a bit of fog in the mornings. We are a 5 minute drive to Montana de Oro State park containing beautiful stretches of beach for walking, surfing, fishing and swimming We are 45 minutes from Hearst Castle and the lower end of Big Sur. The surrounding countryside is agricultural with farms and approximately 200 wineries within a 45 minute drive. There are farmers markets every day of the week in one town or another (Monday afternoon in Los Osos)

There are many activities in the area for families and seniors. We are within walking distance of the Sea Pines Golf Resort. You can go for walks to nearby Morro Bay from our house (in about 5 minutes) and even walk to the ocean from the house (about a 40 minute walk). The general area is designated a bird sanctuary and there are many opportunities for bird watching. There are also numerous hikes and nature walks provided by the local Natural History museum and other organizations.

Our small town has a couple supermarkets, fitness center, several good restaurants, and various retail stores. San Luis Obispo is 12 miles away and is a vibrant small city (population about 44,000) with many art galleries, book stores, movie theaters, music and dancing venues and wonderful restaurants. It is the home of Cal Poly University. There are many churches in the area. There are also lovely small towns to visit in every direction- Morro Bay, Cayucos, Arroyo Grande, Paso Robles, Avila Beach and Pismo Beach to name a few. They are enjoyable to stroll around, looking at shops and having a bite to eat. They also offer additional cultural events.In general, this area is very relaxing. But the cities of Los Angeles and San Francisco are within reach for a weekend or longer trip.

We are a "semi retired" couple, Steve and Janet. Steve, is a retired school counselor who works part time and Janet is a former film editor We make use of the nature opportunities in our area and go for walks in our neighborhood often, and also longer hikes in the nearby Montana de Oro State Park and other nature preserves. There are always many more places to go than we have time for!

We both have grown children- 3 between the 2 of us- living in Los Angeles, Oakland CA and Asheville NC. We enjoy watching films and cooking, especially with the locally grown produce available all year long.
