Camberwell is a lively and fun area, with good shopping and lots of restaurants, cafes, bars and pubs. The Camberwell College of Arts and South London Gallery are just a few steps down the road, and many artists live in the neighborhood. The flat is walking distance to Denmark Hill station which takes you to Victoria station or London Bridge. It's a short bus ride to a number of other stations including Oval, Vauxhall, Elephant & Castle, London Bridge (for the Jubilee line to the Olympic Park in Stratford), New Cross Gate (overground line to Stratford) and Peckham Rye. The buses will get you pretty much everywhere you need to in London.
There is a newly refurbished leisure centre 5 minutes down the road that has a great swimming pool.
Major attractions such as Westminster Abbey, Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Tate Modern, The Old Vic Theatre, Shakespeare's Globe, London Eye, Tower Bridge, The Tower of London, Borough Market, The Imperial War Museum, HMS Belfast and chic London districts such as Soho and Shoreditch are all reachable by public transport in about 20-30 minutes. The Olympic Park at Stratford is reachable in about 50 minutes.
