House in Tuscan hilltop village
Situated on the old walls of a medieval hilltop village in an unspoilt area of Northern Tuscany, the house and garden are south-facing with wonderful views over hills and down the valley towards the Arno valley and Pisa. The house, built in local stone, is on 3 floors with exposed beams and terracotta floors. The ground floor with a bed-sitting room, second bathroom and additional small kitchen could be let separately. The garden is very steep and terraced with olive trees and vines. The village is pedestrian only (car parking 150m away) and has a bakery, post office, bar and 2 restaurants. Pescia, with train station (regular service to Florence and Lucca), all shops and lively Saturday market is 10 km away. Public transport is very sporadic so car is necessary. 15 mins to Pescia, 40 mins to Lucca, 1 hour to Pisa/Florence. Ideal writer's retreat. Absolute quiet. Plenty of hill walking and open-air pool 8 km away.
