Two blocks away is a particularly nice and vibrant stretch of Sunset Boulevard. Public transportation is nearby, as are highways 5, 2, 101, and 110.
The Echo Park neighborhood is really fantastic, with tons of great restaurants and nightlife. Within a two-block walk is the classy little wine bar, El Prado; the music venues The Echo and Echoplex; vegetarian and vegan restaurants Elf Café, Mohawk Bend, and Sage Café; coffee shops such as Chango Coffee, Fix, Stories Bookstore, and Downbeat Café. Cookbook, an excellent green grocer, is just down the hill and bakes bread daily. Also nearby is an assortment of excellent Mexican, Vietnamese, Italian, Thai, and French restaurants. Elysian Park, Echo Park Lake, and the Silver Lake Reservoir are all within walking distance.
