Le Chai is a delightful 19c stone winery, completely renovated, and set on the edge of the Chateau park which is now the local Mairie. Set in a quiet location on the edge of village with all amenities, the garden was once part of the vineyards and the house was the building where they used to store the large wine barrels. The vernacular architecture is spectacular and when you step through the front door you are overwhelmed by the beauty of the vast beams. You look over the 2000 sq metres garden to the cultivated field beyond. The fenced swimming pool adjoins the pool house and fully equipped summer kitchen,which is set in a lawned garden surrounded by stone walls, offering privacy and tranquillity. In November you have the possibility to pick olives from our trees , to take to the olive mill to make olive oil. The house consists of; large spacious living room; large modern stone/wood/stainless steel kitchen; utility room; wide hallway with seating area and second fireplace; master ensuite queensize bedroom with sunken circular bath; double bedroom; twin bedroom; shower room with WC; separate WC; a large mezzanine bedroom; cozy mezzanine office with stone spiral staircase ; outside shower room with WC.
Lunel-Viel is conveniently located 20 minutes drive outside the bustling city of Montpellier, which is easily accesible by bus and tram, and a daily morning train. Regular train service is from Lunel, the next town over, a short drive or bike ride away. It is also a 15 to 20 minute drive from a number of different beaches.
Local public schools are free for all with proof of address. The pre-school and elementary school (école maternelle and école primaire) are both under five minutes walk away. Both are welcoming to non-French speaking children. After school activities are also organised by the Mairie .
