Our apartment complex is in Rathdowne Street opposite the World Heritage listed Royal Exhibition Building and the Melbourne Museum. It is within easy walking distance to Melbourne's central shopping precinct, to the State Library of Victoria, to the theatre complexes, to Melbourne’s China Town as well as to Carlton's popular Lygon Street with its cosmopolitan restaurants and boutique shops. Melbourne University, RMIT University and the large public hospitals are close by. A free tourist shuttle bus stops virtually at the door which runs every 30 minutes around the Melbourne CBD and on to Southbank, the Shrine of Remembrance and the Royal Botanic Gardens. The Arts precinct at Southbank includes the National Art Gallery of Victoria and State theatres for opera and drama performances. Adjacent to these is the Southbank complex with many shops, restaurants, hotels and the Crown Casino.
Transport. As well as the free tourist shuttle bus there are public bus lines that travel along Rathdowne Street. Trams can be accessed in Nicholson Street which is a pleasant walk through the Carlton Gardens opposite the complex. Suburban and country trains can be accessed via the nearby underground City Loop.
