Country Living in the City
Our 3 bedroom, 1.75 bath home is on a 1/2 acre wooded lot on a quiet street in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle. With large windows, lots of light, and wooded green space on two sides it is a peaceful retreat within the city limits. The house is immaculate with wood floors throughout. A wood pellet stove provides heat and ambiance. There is a large back deck with a propane barbecue, a smaller front deck with sun bench, and sizeable front and back yards. The large well-lit driveway has ample room for parking (and shooting hoops).
We are a short walk to the beach, trails and playground at Golden Gardens Park. The #48 bus runs from the end of our dead-end street directly to the University of Washington, as does the Burke-Gilman bike trail that begins down the hill from our house. A terrific local coffee shop, Scandinavian bakery, fish market, Thai restaurant, Mexican restaurant, and Italian / pizza restaurant are all a short walk away.
Excellent public schools are nearby: Loyal Heights and North Beach elementary schools, Whitman Middle School, and Ballard High School.
We are a family of 4 taking a year-long sabbatical from the School of Oceanography at the University of Washington beginning August 2012. We would be interested in a home exchange with someone in the Brisbane - Gold Coast - Byron Bay – Ballina – Lismore region of NW New South Wales / SE Queensland, Australia.
