Tuscan Farmhouse in between Florence and Pisa

Idillic setting in among unspoilt countryside. Very rural, quiet. Small flat in large stone farmhouse available for rent. Central heating. Ideal writer's retreat, the farmhouse is surrounded by lots of land, plenty of walking among chestnut and pine woods in the estate, fresh clean air. Sitting/dining room with one double futton sofa-bed, one bedroom with twin or double bed, one single bedroom. Bathroom with small bath-tub and shower (possibility of extra bedroom on request). Cotto floors. Free firewood, free potatoes. TV, micro-wave oven.
The farmhouse is located on the hills (850 m above sea level) between Florence (60 km, one hour and a quarter drive) and Pisa (one hour drive). The nearest houses are about 1Km away, small hamlets. This is "secret Tuscany", not a very well known part, not very touristy, still unspoilt and quiet. Wild boars and deer roam about in the woods. The farm inner grounds however are protected by a fence. No internet, no phone. Supermarket and boutique shopping in the famous spar town Montecatini (10 Km) or Pescia (10 Km) but lots of special trattorias in the vicinity. Charming ancient villages nestling on top of hills. Car necessary, public transport exists but is rare and far between. During the year (excluding months of July and August) access to main farmhouse, with large sitting room and fireplace, piano, Aga kitchen. Contact us for special rates for longer term lets.

Although not academics, my wife and son and i rented this flat as a base to enjoy Florence and Tuscany for 9 days in September. Elena and her son Giovanni were wonderful hosts. We had a late flight and didn't get to the flat until 11:30 PM where they gave us the keys, showed us around and even had a crib all made up for our one year old son. We went out for food and upon return were unable to make the keys work - we had to wake up poor Giovanni at 1 AM to let us in. (there was nothing wrong with keys, just the way i was using them!) sorry again G. The flat was exactly as advertised and is right in the heart of the city center. The room was quiet as it faces a central courtyard. It was everything we needed and the price was great. I would definitely recommend this property to others. I am convinced we couldn't have chosen a better place to spend a week in Florence. My mother and I even stayed an extra day (cutting short our next destination Rome) because this spacious flat offered such (perfect) comfort and convenience.

It's very quiet as it faces an inner courtyard. I wake up to the sound of distant church bells and nothing else. Located in central, historical Florence, it's seconds away from some of the must-sees such as the Barghello Museum (Donatello's David) and the Duomo.

It was a delight to correspond with Elena (to arrange this accommodation) and later meet her family who were all so helpful. I felt very rested and inspired to write daily blogs about this trip. I would gladly recommend this to anyone.
