Modern, light-filled rural retreat near Arusha, Tanzania

Our family of four is looking to temporarily relocate from August to December 2024. I am writer and my husband works in conservation. We live in a rural village outside of Arusha, Tanzania on 15 acres with access to running, hiking, mountain biking and stunning views. Our house is very child friendly and ideal for an individual, couple or family looking for a quiet retreat. We have three bedrooms and an open plan living/dining/kitchen with a separate washing up room. There is also a detached one-bedroom guesthouse with a kitchenette and bathroom. This is a great base from which to explore Tanzania's natural wonders. Arusha is the gateway to the northern circuit safari parks - Tarangire, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara and Mount Kilimanjaro, all within a few hours drive, and Serengeti just a bit further. We rely on rain water collection and, because of frequent power cuts, we have a large battery/inverter system to prevent interruptions. Our full time housekeeper will stay onboard while we are away to help manage these systems and support in any other ways that are helpful (he is a good cook and does some house cleaning for us as well). We will be in Cambridge, UK, from August through December 2024 and are open to a house swap or a short term tenant.
