The property is located in one of the loveliest areas of Aix in a calm, country setting on the eastern side of town, which has been protected from development. (This is important in a city which has tripled in size in the last 60 years). It has beautiful Provencal vegetation and both a front and back garden. One can walk into the heart of town in a little over a half hour or take advantage of the frequent bus transportation about 700 meters from the property. Or there is a beautiful country walk in the other direction towards a 16th century tower, which also takes about a half hour.
The property consists of a main house occupied most of the year by the owner and a gate house with 2 apartments and a studio all with separate entrances on different side of the house. The principal gate house unit has a living room, dining room, and kitchen with high ceilings and an open plan. All the rooms are spacious and light, tastefully furnished, insulated with double pane windows (important in Europe where energy is expensive), with overhead beams, and Italian tile throughout.
There are 3 roomy, double bedrooms , 1 with 2 single beds, 1 with a queen-sized bed, and 1 with a double bed (sleeping for 6 people), 2 bathrooms, 1 of them en suite. All have large built-in cupboards. The 2 larger bedrooms have French doors opening on to the back garden. The Kitchen and dining room have French doors leading to the front terrace and garden. There are skylights in the kitchen and living room. The house is equipped with a washing machine, dishwasher, refrigerator-freezer, induction burners, flat-sreen TV, DVD player, and wifi internet connection. Dishes, cookware, and linens are provided. The environment is lovely.
