DESCRIPTION OF THE PROPERTY
On the borders of Tuscany and Umbria, our lovely old stone, delightfully restored villa is situated on a hill overlooking a beautiful landscape in the heart of the Upper Tiber Valley (Valtiberina), the birthplace of famous Renaissance painter Piero della Francesca.
The villa (100 m2) is surrounded by 2 hectares of olive trees, a private garden with a special area for eating out and can host up to a maximum of 5 people. It is furnished in old rustic Tuscan style, with terracotta floor, and composed of a large open ground floor with kitchen/dining room and living room for relaxing and romantic evenings (with two fire places: one in the kitchen and one in the living room) and a small bathroom; at the first floor, two large double bedrooms, a large bathroom with shower and a store room. The striking feature is peace and quiet, and the feeling to be centuries away from the chaotic daily routine of our cities. Moreover, Valtiberina is a unique area, rich in history, art and excellent food, and yet still untouched by mass tourism. This is a place for “slow travel”, where you won’t expect to share your experiences with other English-speaking tourists: “this is where the language heard most often is Italian and so are the tourists” (Peter Clifford, 2004).
NEARBY ATTRACTIONS
The Upper Tiber Valley (Valtiberina) takes its name from the river Tiber (Tevere), which flows through the valley from north to south and reaches Rome after a run of more than 200 miles. The Valtiberina has been a point of interaction between different civilizations (Etruscans, Romans, Byzantines and Lombards) and forms today the eastern border of Tuscany, where it meets Emilia Romagna, Marche and Umbria. It is a region of open vistas and breathtaking landscapes, which boasts a rich and varied history, particularly in the Medieval and Renaissance times. Michelangelo and Piero della Francesca were born here, in Caprese and Sansepolcro. Intact medieval walled towns and hilltop citadels with spectacular views treasure a rare historical, architectural and artistic heritage. Our villa is conveniently situated less than 15 minutes drive from these medieval hamlets: Anghiari, Citerna, Sansepolcro, Monterchi, Umbertide, Caprese Michelangelo. Arezzo (filming location for Roberto Benigni's "Life Is Beautiful") is only 20 minutes away. One-day trips to Florence, Siena and Perugia are also possible, as the drive time is roughly 50 minutes to Perugia and 75 minutes to Florence/Siena.

* price depends on duration of stay, number of people and season of the year. Final cleaning charge is included in the rent. High season in Tuscany runs from mid-April to mid-October. Shorter stays (less than 1 month, minimum 1 week) are negotiable in July and August only, subject to availability, and will be charged at higher rates.

Use of the villa with all domestic appliances, electricity, gas, water and hot water, fully furnished kitchen (dishwasher, fridge, oven etc.), bedding/linen/towels, washing machine and laundry facilities, television, wifi Internet, radio, stereo Hi-Fi, cards and games, private outdoor area (furnished with seating, tables, BBQ etc.), private parking space. Pets are welcomed (for free!).
NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE
