A large, sunny house in Cadaques, the most exquisite village on Spain’s Costa Brava. It’s wonderful for a holiday, but also fantastic as a writing retreat - I wrote a whole book up there, so it’s a great place to work! A bit of writing, a swim, some writing, a stroll, a siesta, a bit more work, and a nice seafood dinner by the sea… just watch time fly and the pages adding up!
Cadaques, barely a couple of hours North of Barcelona, is a jewel of the Mediterranean, pretty as a picture, buzzing in summer but without being brash, with just about the best seaside cafes, breathtaking views, cute winding streets, and clear blue waters you could ever wish for. Salvador Dali, who used to hang around the place a lot, said it was the cosmic centre of the world, and so it has remained to this day. (You can visit Dali’s house in Port-Lligat, it’s a 20mn walk from the house). Cadaques has a lively art scene with lots of galleries and exhibitions throughout the summer, and - lest we get too high-cultural - plenty of shops too. And seafood to die for. And great for scuba-diving if you're into that kind of thing.
From Cadaques you are just over an hour away from Perpignan in France, and it’s also a great base from which to explore the coastline and the interior, with gorgeous small towns like Carcassonne, Collioure and Ceret on the French side, and Besalu, Port de la Selva and Empuries on the Spanish side. Girona, with its wonderful Old Quarter, is about one hour’s drive to the South.
Ok - On offer here for summer rental (and the rest of the year too, just ask!) is a bright, beautiful and spacious 3 bedroom house in the centre of town, only 5 minutes walk from the beach and all the seaside cafes and restaurants. The main living area is a fantastic double-height space with huge windows opening to a large balcony with views of the mountains (and a bit of sea). The top floor is an open mezzanine with a separate lounge area and study. There is ample built-in storage throughout the house. There are two double bedrooms in the first floor. The third bedroom is a single bedroom but with a large bed (1m bed). It has an en suite shower room. There is also a complete bathroom between the two main bedrooms and a separate wc on the main floor. There is a baby cot in the house, and a sleep-in daybed in the mezzanine.
So - Sleeps 6 adults and a baby, has wi-fi broadband, washing machine, open fireplace, electric oven and cooker, large fridge-freezer, hi-fi, bedlinen and blankets, towels, cutlery and plates, hot water, original artworks and everything you need for a fabulous mediterranean holiday.

For prices in Spring and Easter, Christmas and New Year, and during the winter, please get in touch - the fireplace is gorgeous when it's chilly outside! Cadaques is perfect for sunny winter walks and cosy evenings by the fire. And there's electric radiators in all the rooms.
Winter price p/w (except Season Holidays) is €600.
