| summer 2010 rental very close to Northwestern University |
We have a very spacious, bright and sunny 1910 bungalow that was gutted and completely remodeled in 2006. We will be abroad most of summer 2010 and have rented the house out for most of that period. But it is still available for the last two weeks of May.
The house is within walking distance of Northwestern University, and the "El" that will take you to Loyola/DePaul is just two blocks away. The Metro, which offers express service to downtown Chicago, about a 15-20 minute walk in the other direction. The house has three bedrooms and three (all new) bathrooms, one with a large air-jet tub, large living room and dining room, a separate family room with cable TV, security system, wireless internet throughout the house, and a computer set up in the family room. The house is about 2600 square feet. We have central air conditioning. The kitchen has cherry floors, maple cabinets, granite countertops, and high end appliances. There is a wood-burning fireplace in the living room. The basement is very large, with a recreation space and a finished office. There are two washer/dryer zones, one upstairs by the bedrooms and another in the basement.
The house is set up for kids, with games, toys, and child-oriented DVDs/videos. The kids' bedrooms have single beds, but one also has a trundle. We could set up additional mattresses in their rooms if needed. There are two sleeper sofas in the family room, too. We have a playset in the yard and a park/playground just up the street. The bedrooms are all large, and the master bedroom has its own master bath. We have three cats who would need to be cared for in our absence, but we could have one of our neighbors come in daily to feed them and clean their litter if need be.
Wilmette itself is a village, with a cute downtown, large old-growth trees, several cobblestone streets, and the only Baha'i temple in the US (within walking distance of our house; it is a gorgeous structure, with lush gardens and beautiful grounds). It is safe and family oriented. There is a lovely, extensive sand beach on Lake Michigan about a 20 minute pleasant walk, or 5 minute drive, from our house. Evanston, home of Northwestern University, is just to the south of us (about a mile away), and you can walk, bike, or take the El to get to campus.
