Our recently remodeled prairie-influenced 3+/4 bedroom, 3 bath, home is located on a beautiful tree-lined block in Evanston, near parks, playgrounds and beaches.
Our home will be available for two different/separate periods:
-Period #1: for three to six weeks in summer (June 1 until July 15)
-Period #2: for rent for fall semester, 2010 (roughly, from August 23rd to late December 2010 or early January 2011--we have some flexibility with starting and ending dates).
Much of our home has been recently remodeled: Kitchen remodeled w/ new granite counters & extensive cherry cabinets ('07); new oak floors installed throughout main floor (in '07); basement recently remodeled ('08) with office/4th bedroom w/ full bathroom, laundry room; other bathrooms also recently remodeled (one with extra-large shower and a second with jetted/jacuzzi bathtub).
The upstairs (2nd floor) floor has a total of three bedrooms, plus a sunny tandem playroom (bonus room) adjoins our child's bedroom. The third upstairs bedroom can serve as either office or bedroom, and the tandem room adjoining our daughter's bedroom also has a desk and extensive shelving, so could be reconfigured as another study for those without a need for a playroom.
The main floor has a well-equipped kitchen, dining room with piano (digital), living room with wood-burning fireplace, and a large three season enclosed porch with porch swing and hammock.
Wireless internet runs throughout the house.
The bottom/basement floor was very recently gut-rehabbed. It features a combination study with computer and printer / entertainment room / guest bedroom area (with elliptical exercise machine), a full bathroom, and laundry room.
Our English cottage-style garden is planted with perennials that flower throughout the summer. There is a large deck, with deck furniture, parasol & gas BBQ for outdoor summer meals. The brick garage also holds beach chairs, beach parasol, picnic supplies, tennis rackets and sports equipment.
Location & Neighborhood: Our block is quiet and green, with little traffic. There are a number of academic families with children of all ages. A 5 minute walk away is Central Street, known as one of the most charming neighborhood shopping areas on the north shore (w/ artisan bread shop, traditional bakery, coffee houses, branch library, gelato cafe, gourmet grocery, unique boutiques and a nice variety of restaurants--Thai, Japanese, French bistro, American eatery, Italian, gluten free cafe, pan-Asian etc). The train/express Metra direct to downtown Chicago is here, as well. most of our neighbors use this to commute downtown (the Metra train also connects to Chicago's Red Line El, which will take you to Loyola Univ. Chicago, De Paul, etc). Northwestern Univ. & Lake Michigan beaches are also very close to us (a quick bike ride, longer walk or five minute drive). Four playgrounds/parks are within a 2-3 block radius of our home, several tennis courts are also a few blocks from us, and 2.5 blocks east of us is Perkins Woods (a mini forest preserve). We are 2 blocks east of Lincolnwood Elementary School (excellent school: kindergarten - 5th grade), & a short walk from Haven Middle School. Downtown Evanston ("Dining Capital of Chicago's Northshore") is a 5 minute drive or easy bicycle ride away.
