self-contained double-bedroom cottage/gite
We run a small (30 acre) equestrian ranch. The comfortable, independent "gite", originally planned as staff accommodation, would suit a couple or small family. For equestrian enthusiasts, help around the yard is always welcome! We have stables for when required, but our horses live out in fenced fields. The ranch, with stables, outdoor school and circular arena, is set in the foothills of the Cevennes in an unusually beautiful situation below the C13 Chateau de Fressac, surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, wonderful walks and good bridleways up into the hills. Car hire recommended. Nearby villages with excellent restaurants and cafes. Wine tastings are easy to arrange with excellent local winemakers. The region produces some of the finest wines in France. We have a good-sized pool to which tenants have unrestricted access, and fast (minimum 10 meg) ADSL internet connexion to the property, with wireless facility. We are 50 minutes by road from Montpellier, 40 minutes from Nimes (without hurrying) and 120 minutes from Marseille. We have bicycles to lend, 4 horses, several friendly dogs, 2 donkeys, a cat and chickens. This is a calmly-run farm with well-trained, quiet, happy animals. We are English "classical" actors, and live here because we love France, and there is a fast, cheap, regular Ryanair flight to London from either Nimes or Montpellier. The gite, with open-plan living area, good kitchen, shower bathroom, master double bedroom, mezzanine second bedroom (with single or double bed as required) overlooking the living room, and a miller's ladder to a platform mezzanine for, perhaps, an agile 12-year old in the main bedroom, has its own front door, and is independent from the main house. Could sleep 2 children and parents. A couple without children would also find this a calm and cosy environment. Rent depends on season: January - March £250 pw; April - May £350 pw; June £450 pw; July - August £475 pw; September £350 pw; October £300 pw; November - January £250 pw.
