| Quiet conservation village location with easy access to London |
Picturesque conservation village where first cottage hospital in England was established. Within easy reach of lovely Chilterns countryside. Modern four bedroom house comprising large reception, modern kitchen, study, conservatory/dining room and utility room (with sink and washing machine); 1 double bedroom with ensuite shower and WC, 2 more double bedrooms and one single room; family bathroom and downstairs cloakroom with shower; a double garage with further off-street parking.PV panels fitted to roof. A cot bed is available if required.
The kitchen has cream painted wood cupboards with granite worktops. American-style fridge, double sink, gas hob, electric double oven, dish washer and lots of dishes etc. For communications Satellite TV, Internet are available; there are TV and phone points to most rooms. For comfort, the house has full gas central heating and full double glazing. Non smoking.
For the gardener or sun worshipper there is a small sunny back garden with patio and mature shrubs, grape vine and fig tree. There is also a large private front garden all currently laid to grass and mature shrubs and with two patio areas. There is also a large separate wildlife area with pine trees, wild flowers, plum and pear trees, and a variety of pond life. A gardener comes to look after this area and is included in the rent.
The house is in a small conservation hamlet in rural Hertfordshire with superb communications: Luton, Heathrow and Stanstead airports are all within easy reach; London Euston is within 25 minutes by train, after a 2 mile drive/cycle to Hemel Hempstead station; There is also a bus service to London at 1 mile walk, also within 10 minutes of M1, 5 more minutes to the M25; easy commute to UCL (which I did for 6 years),British Library. Surprisingly, we don't hear enough of any of the traffic noise to drown the birds singing or the woodpecker drilling. In addition to being close to the usual facilities of a medium sized town (Hemel Hempstead) such as supermarkets, department stores etc., the house is within walking distance of the picturesque Old Town with church, restaurants, pubs, theatre, antique shops and a huge park (ideal for walking the dog, skateboarding or playing bowls). It is also near beautiful Chilterns countryside.
Our village has an active social calendar - from Twelfth Night festivities, Safari Suppers, Summer Barbecues, Book Club, and an active residents' association. It's a great place to get to know the neighbours if you want to, or to be private if you prefer.
The house has been our family home for 24 years. we're rattling around a bit now our two children have left home. Several private schools within easy drive. State schools also close. |
