Knights Templar Commanderie To EXCHANGE for NYC apartment September to June
Dating from the 13th century, the original structure of the Commanderie, or military fortress, was occupied and used by the Knights Templar, who defended the village from behind its thick stone fortifications. The medieval structure was expanded in the 18th century, when an olive press was built on the grounds, and was completed in the 19th century. It is now a large, modernized and comfortable family home with five bedrooms, three full bathrooms, two equipped kitchens, multiple living spaces and three outdoor eating areas--a sunny balcony, a vine-covered pool-side gazebo and an immense, shady Italianate courtyard. The fully renovated interior includes a grand salon with original fireplace made of hand-glazed Provencal tiles, triple height windows, and five meter ceilings that offer soaring volumes and the crystalline light of the midi. There is a game room with a billiard/pool table; a French country dining room with an oak table that seats twelve; and a living room with satellite television/DVD player with English language channels/films.
The five bedrooms include one with an en suite bathroom. The largest bedroom doubles as a fitness room and has yoga mats and a treadmill, not to mention a gorgeous view of the chateau. The master bedroom has a large walk-in closet and bathroom. Our home is a family home, not a year-round rental property, and you will find that two of the bedrooms are decorated for children. The house will sleep 10 comfortably.
Outdoor, you will find a beautiful flower-filled garden, secluded above-ground swimming pool in the upper level of the grounds, flowering oleander trees, rose bushes and table tennis. The house is fully stocked with all the extras (towels, linens, games, beach toys, board games, hair dryers, etc.) you might need for a relaxing and comfortable holiday. Many additional items can be arranged upon request.
