Experience authentic French village life in our house situated in the charming village of Montlaur, in the heart of a beautiful wine-growing valley in the Corbieres, in Languedoc (SW France).
The village is both enchanting and welcoming, boasting its own cafe, small supermarket, bakery, butchers, pharmacy and hair salon!
Our village is perfectly located to explore the famous medieval city of Carcassonne, the Canal du Midi, the beautiful villages in the Minervois, colourful local village markets, the Roman city of Narbonne, Cathar Castles, the beaches on the Mediterranean, the playground of the Pyrenees with dinosaur museums, Tautavel man and skiing in the winter. We are also an easy 3 hours from Barcelona.
The village house is a three-storey stone house built about 150 years ago, situated in the heart of the village on the corner of a quiet lane. We have lovingly renovated our home and furnished it in the "French country" style.
Ground Floor:

Cosy kitchen/dining room - beautiful original brick fireplace, great workable kitchen, bright and cheerful dining room.
Lounge - features a "Languedocian" fireplace equipped with an old cast iron wood burner - the room is very cosy and is tastefully furnished with loungesuite, armchairs and side tables.
First Floor:
Master bedroom -beautifully furnished with a queen-sized bed, marble-topped set of drawers, antique mirrored wardrobe and bedside tables.
Second bedroom - bright and sunny room with two single beds, marble-topped set of drawers and marble-topped dressing table.
Bathroom - tiled pentagonal shower with glass door, antique handbasin set in marble, large attractive mirror and toilet.
Second floor:
Third Large Bedroom - furnished with a double bed, writing desk and side tables, antique wooden chest of drawers, wrought-iron antique day bed, colourful woollen Moroccan rug and a french door leading out onto private roof-top terrace.
Terrace - furnished with a table and 6 chairs, great place to eat, or just relax, entertain and enjoy the view over village rooftops while sampling some of the fantastic local wines.
We have 2 adult bikes, 2 childrens bikes which guests are welcome to use. The area is ideal for cycling - along the Canal du Midi is one of our favourite rides!
