Spacious home for rent in Mèze (Herault, Languedoc-Roussillon).
We will be out of the country and would like to rent our furnished home during our absence.
Rental dates: September 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013.
Description:
19th century maison vigneronne (traditional architecture of Languedoc wine region), fully renovated in 2003. The home is located in the center of Mèze, a charming fishing village/beach town approximately 30 minutes from Montpellier and 15 minutes from Sète. It's a 130 square meter apartment, situated on the second and third floors, ideally suited for a family of 4-5 people. The apartment is comfortable, spacious, sunny and bright, with high ceilings, beams, tiled floors and gas central heating.
Second floor:
- Open plan living room/dining room/kitchen. The kitchen is equipped with a gas stovetop, electric oven, dishwasher, microwave oven, large refrigerator/freezer. There’s a TV, with a DVD player and music system in the living room, and a convertible, 2-person sofa-bed;
- Master bedroom with bathroom (toilet/bath/shower) en suite;
- Additional bedroom with sleeping loft (double mattress) and electric piano;
- Second bathroom (large shower) with separate toilet;
- pantry and closets
Third floor:
- Two bedrooms with single beds (4 total)
There’s a washing machine and dryer in the garage. The house has a large, enclosed, private garden.
Rent:
1300 Euros/month plus 1300 Euro security deposit.
Rent includes electricity, gas, water, Wifi.
Tenants must clean the house prior to departure. If they prefer to pay
for cleaning, a 250 Euro cleaning fee will be deducted from the deposit.
About Meze:
Mèze is a small town of 10,000 inhabitants, which has maintained its village atmosphere (see: www.ville-meze.fr). The town is located on the Bassin de Thau, one of the largest saltwater lagoons on the Mediterranean. There’s a lovely beach and a fishing port lined with restaurants and cafes – both a few hundred meters from the house. The main economic activities of Mèze are oyster farming, fishing and wine growing/production. Sète (IFREMER and the nearest train station) is 15 minutes from Mèze. The universities of Montpellier are approximately 30 minutes from Mèze. From Mèze, one can take the bus to Sète, Montpellier, Pézenas, Béziers, etc.
Everything in Mèze is within easy walking distance: elementary and middle schools, twice-weekly market, 2 supermarkets, bakeries, post office, town hall, etc... Mèze also has a municipal cinema showing many English language films in V.O., a tennis club and a yacht club (open to the public at reasonable rates), and numerous sports and cultural clubs. Although small, Meze is quite dynamic, with plenty of shops and activities. It’s a great place to be for a year: there’s much to see and do in and around Meze, and the town is a great starting point for regional excursions.
We’ve had a number of foreign visitors enroll their children in school for the year and all have been happy with the welcome and the schools. There are all sorts of affordable after-school activities for children: tennis, sailing, football, martial arts, music, etc. Kids also love the beach – swimming is possible through October, depending on the weather, and kids are back in the water by May. |
