Modern multilevel in renovated Victorian
I miss my apartment, but my post-grad work has taken me out-of-state!
Ammenities:
Hardwood floors throughout, with slate tiles in the main living space
Private driveway with two tandem parking spots
Private entrance (two other units share a separate driveway and entrance)
Private deck
Private flower garden
In-unit front-loading washer/dryer
Additional designated storage shelves in basement
The layout:
Seriously unique. The main living space is on the third floor, which is a converted attic with appealing interior architecture, lots of light and high ceilings. The open plan living area features a skylight with insulating shade to help reduce energy costs. There's also a programmable thermostat, for additional energy efficiency.
The master bedroom is large, with double-door "his and hers" closets that are super-deep, as well as additional alcove storage. (Or, "mine and mine" closets if it's just you!)
The kitchen has granite counter tops, modern stainless steel appliances, dishwasher, gas range, microwave, and lots of cabinet storage.
The bathroom is on the third floor too, and has a full tub with shower, tile on the floor and walls, fan ventilation and a casement window with privacy glass.
The second floor has a coat closet and the office/second bedroom. (I used it as an art studio, library and guestroom.) This room is smaller and has a two-story ceiling as well as a closet with built-in shelves and drawers.
The neighborhood:
The best! Quiet but close to the action. Lots of lovely Victorians and gardens. Park and community garden at the bottom of the street. Two blocks from the main branch of the public library, and about a five-minute walk to Union Square, a vibrant commercial district with coffee-houses, yoga studios, supermarket, bars and gastro-pubs, specialty groceries (Indian, Asian, Halal, Brazilian, Italian, Hispanic, local/organic), restaurants (Korean, Peruvian, Mexican, Indian, Thai, Chinese, all-day brunch), post office, bike shop, mechanic and more. A farmers' market runs every Saturday June through October (winter farmers' market is every Saturday January through March). Also nearby: Target, Rite Aid, AutoZone, gas stations.
