Apt completely renovated in 2008. It has new floors, kitchen, appliances, paint. It has 2 bdr, 2 bath in a wonderful bldg. There is a pool, a gym in the building and garage parking spaces are available.
It is a perfect apt for people who like cities, but who also love nature. The apt is wonderful for working in and writing in. It is absolutely quiet -- no noisy neighbors or traffic sounds.
Beautiful Lincoln park is across the street, Lincoln park zoo (which is free) is a 15 minute walk through the park. Enormous lake Michigan is a 5 minute walk away. For much of the year, a farmer's market operates every Saturday, a 10 minute walk away through the park.
The local neighborhood is one of the loveliest and most exclusive in Chicago. A large number of restaurants, cafes, bars, stores and shops lie within easy walking distance. There are 2 large gyms within walking distance.
A bike path, which takes a minute to get to by bike and 5 minutes to walk to, extends along the lake, all the way up to Evanston and all the way down past the University of Chicago. All along the bike path is a promenade.
Buses stop on the corner, express buses to central Chicago are a 10 minute walk away, on Belmont Ave. Near the "L" train on Diversy and on Belmont. De Paul university is within walking distance, the University of Chicago (where I work) is 20 minutes away by car, as is Northwestern. Both universities can also be reached by public transport (approx. 45 minutes) and by bike, my own preferred mode of travel. Biking to the U of C takes about 50 minutes.
