SabbaticalHomes.com was founded in 2000 by the spouse
of an academic to provide the global academic community with an efficient system for facilitating
sabbatical home
exchanges. It is the leading internet-based directory for
sabbatical home
exchange,
academic home rental
and tenant
listings opportunities devoted to serving academic communities worldwide.
Our specialized housing service has published over
35,000 requests from homeowners and tenants worldwide.
SabbaticalHomes.com has been featured in The Chronicle
of Higher Education (US edition). The Guardian (United
Kingdom) wrote "ideal for anyone involved in research
trips or exchange projects". Hundreds of academic web
sites link to us and refer to us as a valuable resource.
We are thankful to have grown primarily though word of
mouth. More than a third of our listers come recommended
from previous listers. SabbaticalHomes.com
is a privately owned company run by a team of
multinational individuals and is located in Manhattan Beach, California.
We offer a worldwide home and tenant listing service to for those temporarily offering or searching for accommodations for
rent,
exchange or
house-sitting.
Registered users can save their searches, keep a list
of their favorite listings, track email queries regarding their posting
or postings they are interested in, and see how many times their listing is viewed.
Our mission is to serve academics worldwide who temporally need to offer or search accommodations for rent,
exchange or house-sitting.
Non-academics are also welcome to use our service if they prefer to deal with scholars. Alternatively, there are several reputable
home-exchange services, which
we are happy to recommend to you.

Our philosophy is to keep our fees to a minimum. To a great extent we rely on success-based contributions to keep our fees low.
If a successful match results from using our site, a success-based contribution is expected to help the service grow and improve.
The amount of the contribution is up to the individual, but we recommend a contribution between US$50-$100.

college, a research center etc.. Academics not belonging to a main stream
academic organization can sign up as
non-affiliated academic or should send an email to
applications@sabbaticalhomes.com to inquire if they qualify for
the academic rate.

to keep our fees low in contrast
to commercial housing resources
