This big, beautiful house is a late 19th century industrial building, converted into a light-filled, quiet, comfortable and spacious home, situated in a very nice neighbourhood (the house has been used as a location by the BBC). There are three double bedrooms, two bathrooms, a large airy study with balcony and lots of living space. The house is ideal for writing, researching or just enjoying! With its large windows, spiral staircase and loft-like space, lined with art, crafts and many, many bookshelves filled with books, it is an inspirational space in which to spend time. We love it! It’s warm and airy, with wifi throughout and a separate laundry room (washer and dryer). The house is located in a very much desired area (Chorlton) with loads of green space (woods, rivers, parks, trails for walking, running, cycling – we have bicycles available at the house!). Chorlton has many good restaurants, coffee-shops, wine-bars (lots of live music for all tastes), bookshops, gyms and yoga centres, and great organic food shops and farmers’ markets. It is close to the universities, city centre, trains and airport – with bike paths and Metro (tram) links. Manchester is booming! This historic city (the heart of the Industrial Revolution) is undergoing an arts and cultural, literary, science and research renaissance, under the banner of the ‘Northern Powerhouse’ (see, for example, the Manchester International Festival http://mif.co.uk/), with great libraries such as the historic John Rylands Library (See http://www.library.manchester.ac.uk/rylands/) or the greatly expanded and refurbished Manchester City Library; award-winning concert venues, (see for example, https://www.bridgewater-hall.co.uk/), museums and theatres (see, for example HOME https://homemcr.org/) and galleries (see for example, the Whitworth Art Gallery http://www.whitworth.manchester.ac.uk/), and with arts and music, and cultural (including food!) festivals and events year-round. The city is within very easy reach of the glorious Peak District, Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and Wales. The city has three large universities and a student population of over eighty thousand, led by the prestigious University of Manchester, the largest single-campus university in the UK - see http://www.manchester.ac.uk/. Manchester is just over two hours by train to London (easy to do as a day trip), and Manchester Airport is an international hub (very easily reached from Chorlton directly by Metro or by taxi).
