The house is in an 1880 terrace situated on an island on the river Thames. The local island community is friendly, there are two nice local pubs, and since there is no through traffic it is very quiet. Despite this it is well connected, with bus stops 1 minute walk, the train station 5 minutes walk, and the city centre 15 minutes walk from the house. Similarly, most University departments and colleges are within about a 20 minute walk. The proximity to the river means that it is only a short walk in either direction to reach the towpath with parks, public tennis courts, nature reserves and other green spaces close by. The house front door opens into a large hall which is ideal for storing bicycles. There is a downstairs toilet and a utility room/laundry. There is a large open plan (~80m2) kitchen/dining/living area which receives a lot of light from the garden through the double glazed glass back to the house, and two large sash windows to the front.. The staircase from the hall leads to the first floor which has one large master bedroom with an en-suite bathroom with shower and toilet, and two other bedrooms one with a double bed and one with a single bed, and a second bathroom with bath and shower. There is also a mezzanine office with an amazing view of the garden. A staircase from the landing leads to the second floor which has two linked double bedrooms both with views over the garden and the second of which has an ensuite shower and toilet. The garden faces West and so is sunny most of the day, and has a tributary of the river running along the back, which we swim in in the summer (see photo). Note that this might be something to think about if you have young children, as river access is not restricted. There is a large deck over the river that is perfect for al-fresco living, dining and BBQs. Facing the back of the house on the other side of the water is a row of willow trees behind which is primary school which is silent outside of school hours (08h30 - 16h30 Monday to Friday).
