**Available for monthly rental or weekly/monthly Writer/Artist retreat - options for retreat include meals (gluten free, vegetarian, omnivore), snacks, space to work, silent/speaking environment. Contact for details. This year-round lake home was built and renovated by our family and has many unique features. To the extent possible, the building supplies and furniture were repurposed/reclaimed. The house is heated by a solar-powered geothermal heat sink, large banks of windows with panels that regulate solar heat, wood stoves, and a system of fans and window vents for circulation. There is also a backup HVAC system. The house is large, with high beamed ceilings and plenty of space to spread out, but it also has cozy nooks and private areas for work and play. The interior is rustic and minimalist but completely modern and comfortable. We use the house in the summer and are looking for residents during the academic year. On the main floor you will find a large kitchen/family room/dining room. The dining table seats 10, and the kitchen island seats 4+. There are two bedrooms with queen beds, two bathrooms (one with shower and one with tub and shower), a sitting area with TV and wood stove, a laundry room with washer and dryer, and a three-season porch with a bar and a view of the lake. The porch exits to a deck with lake views and a picnic table. The back porch has a charcoal grill, pellet smoker, and wood shed. In the loft, there is a bedroom with queen bed and an office/media room with TV, desk with view of lake, printer, monitor, and queen futon couch. On the ground floor, there is a separate apartment with a full kitchen, a bathroom with shower, a family room with dining area, and a queen bedroom and sitting area in a three-season porch with a view of the lake. This self-contained unit has a private entrance and also connects to the main living area. Also on the ground floor is an extra room with queen bed, a bathroom with shower, and a large game room with ping pong and card tables. The property has seasonal docks on the lake and a lagoon, an old fish house, a fire pit, and a rustic, seasonal, lakeside cabin with a full bed. There is ample parking for vehicles and trailers. The house is on a short dead end dirt lane shared by nine houses and is very private and quiet, while also being within walking distance of two restaurants and a short drive to the small town of Crosslake.
