I work in academia as a professor of design whose hobby is short story and poetry writing. I purchased this cottage to be a writer's retreat but ended up booking it to vacationers who wanted to enjoy its location in Ohio Wine Country. Being half Californian but now living/working in Pittsburgh, I wanted a place that was an easy trip to be near a large body of water, even remotely akin to being near the ocean and this place has it all. In a neighborhood that is half year-round residents and half summer cottages, it affords, off season, a calm and quiet place to retreat without being too remote or rustic. You can start your day pebble-hunting on the nearby beach or just walking 5 minutes to the park overlooking the lake to get inspiration and a sense of clearing. Work on your writing all day and take a break in the evening to enjoy one of multiple excellent restaurants just a 15-minute drive away. The area is a historic resort town so it has an eclectic and sometimes a bit oddball feeling, like the offspring of a mix of influences and eras. I would ideally like to find an academic on sabbatical (obviously) or other remote-working professional who is responsible, respectful, and non-smoking who would appreciate the charming yet modernized easy and relaxing place to focus without distraction. The dining area/laundry room could be converted into an office as it has a large dining table with washer/dryer—there for your use but neatly tucked out of sight. If, like me, you want to escape the more chaotic nature of university or home offices, and want to feel like you traveled far while only being an hour from Cleveland, Youngstown, and Akron (2.5 hours from Pittsburgh), and who might appreciate the unexpected awe of a massive frozen lake in the colder months, this is your perfect creative hide-away retreat! If you are a creative team working on a collaborative project that would benefit by a focused getaway, there are 2 comfortable queen beds in their own nicely decorated separate rooms plus the refrigerator is extra large and will fit everything you need to be comfortable roommates with private spaces of your own and common spaces. Best of all, in this economy, you have an electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid, you'll spend no money on gas as there's an EV plug accessible right from the 2 to 3-car driveway. This is a standard EV plug which probably doesn't work for a Tesla (see photos for specifics). This isn't a good choice if you're an artist who needs a studio-like space. In fact, I would not want anyone using the space for painting or other types of media that would be messy and potentially damage furniture or flooring. Extra bonus: If you stay 30 days or more we can both avoid the area's required "bed tax" (basically a sales tax like all hotels charge) and the price will reduce from $2,240 to $1,800 including utilities.
