Top floor of our beautifully renovated Victorian town house home which is in a much sought-after neighbourhood of North London called Stroud Green. We regularly let out the second floor flat which has a lovely large living room, a spacious double bedroom, and its own bathroom and well-equipped kitchen. Although you walk up our stairs, the second floor is almost as if self-contained and you are very much in your own space at the top of the house. The accommodation would best suit a couple, but we are also willing to let to a single person. We are a married couple in our early sixties, both classical musicians and teachers. Richard is a violinist, conservatoire teacher, chamber music coach and has just retired from being CEO of a charity which supports and nurtures young professional chamber musicians. Penny is a cellist and teacher who teaches at a specialist music school and plays in some of the top London orchestras as well as running Chamber Music Sundays for young instrumentalists. Ten years ago, when we renovated the house, we built a self-contained music studio in the garden, so all our teaching and practising takes place outside of the house. Our two children are now 29 and 31 and live and work elsewhere in London, and for many years now we’ve enjoyed having Sabbatical Homes visiting academics living upstairs in our house, many of whom we’ve stayed in contact with. We love living in this area as it is quiet and residential, yet nearby there are many great shops and restaurants on Stroud Green Road which has quite a lively feel in the evenings. Central London is incredibly close - we are 10 minutes’ walk from Finsbury Park tube and from there it is only 10 minutes by tube on the Victoria line to Oxford Circus. St Pancras International is just two stops away on the tube, and from there you can get to Paris in 2 hours 15 minutes! Right opposite our house is an entrance onto the ‘Parkland Walk’, a green and wooded disused railway path where you can stroll or jog and feel far away from the city noise.
