When she created SabbaticalHomes.com in 2000, founder Nadege Conger envisioned the website as a way for scholars to connect, arrange affordable housing and find trustworthy tenants. Today, SabbaticalHomes.com is still run by the founder and a creative team of hard-working, enthusiastic and diverse individuals.

We decided that we were going to take some time off, so we quit our jobs at University of Auckland and went travelling in a campervan (an RV for the Americans). We traveled for about a year. While we were doing that, we needed to do something with our house to pay the mortgage and all the interest and stuff, so we found out about SabbaticalHomes and it’s been a lifesaver for us. It’s been the best platform for us to be renting a house, and we didn’t really have tenants, we had guests, so it was fantastic. It was a completely different way of just doing the whole thing. We were really blessed having some real good people, some academics, some people from different fields. It really makes the whole experience meeting other people from the same community, and it’s just a completely different way of sharing your house with someone else. So thank you very much, and thanks for your help.
