Description

Make yourself at home in this fully furnished apartment, steps from City College (West 136th Street and Amsterdam) and an 8-minute walk to Columbia University's business school, located on the new Manhattanville campus. It's also a short subway ride or 20-minute walk to Columbia’s main campus, Barnard College or the Manhattan School of Music. A longer walk or short subway ride takes you uptown to Columbia’s School of Medicine or downtown to NYU. About my apartment: It is quiet, spacious and south-facing, so it gets plenty of light. The desk in the entryway cannot be seen from the kitchen/living room, making it easy to work there without distraction. The washer/dryer is in the apartment, not in the basement (!), the balcony looks out over a landscaped courtyard, there is a built-in heater/air conditioner unit in each room, a walk-in closet, queen-sized bed, bamboo floors, and instant hot water. The living room has a queen-sized comfortable sleeper sofa. In one closet you'll find an electronic keyboard with weighted keys, pedal and a stand, as well as yoga props and a mat. My neighbors are great, the building is safe. About the kitchen: Fully stocked with plenty of dishes and cookware and a dishwasher. About the building: This elevator building was built in 2006. You’ll have access to the courtyard, exercise room and roof deck with a sweeping view of the Hudson river and midtown Manhattan. My neighbors include musicians, a children's book editor and teachers, many of whom have been in the building for years. Transportation: Nearest subways are the 1 train (137th street and Broadway), B and C trains (135th street and St. Nicholas Ave.) with easy transfers to 2/3 and A/D trains. Plenty of buses nearby. There is a CityBike docking station steps from the front door. About the neighborhood: The neighborhood is called Hamilton Heights or West Harlem and is filled with people from the Dominican Republic, students, and professionals from all over. I feel safe here with great restaurants opening every week. You will have easy access to green space in nearby St. Nicholas Park, on the City College campus or along the Hudson river. Columbia's new Manhattanville campus boasts Renzo Piano architecture, a climbing wall, and the Wallach Art Gallery, a beautifully curated, free, gallery with sweeping views of the Hudson. Thanks to the Audubon Mural Project you'll see fabulous murals of birds throughout the neighborhood. (Charles Audubon is buried in Trinity cemetery at 155th street.) Across the street go to the Hispanic Society to see the monumental Sarolla murals. In nearby St. Nicholas park you'll see Alexander Hamilton's former grange. The Hudson River and Riverside park are just down the street. Everything is clean, neat and functional. Perfect for a single person or a couple. Includes sheets and towels. This is a non-smoking and pet-free environment. People who have stayed here give it five stars! More pictures available upon request. About the rental process: My condo board requires completion of a comprehensive application which I can help you navigate. Though a cumbersome process, the result is that your new neighbors have been carefully vetted.
