Niantic is a charming village in East Lyme, CT, located right next to the Atlantic shoreline where the Niantic River meets the Long Island Sound. It is known for its welcoming community spirit; its beautiful shoreline boardwalk; and its convenient proximity to New London, historical local towns, the ferry to Orient Point and Block Island, nearby Eugene O'Neill Theater Center, Rocky Neck State Park, and Harkness Memorial Park. Niantic features excellent local sea food and easy travel to both Boston and New York City (each 2 hours away). (Amtrak train station is 15 minute drive.) Our comfortable year-round house is located on a quiet, child-safe street within easy walking distance to town beaches, parks, shops, movie theater, Children's Museum, book store, antiques, and wonderful restaurants. The house has everything you need for a comfortable stay, entertaining, good cooking, fun outdoor activity, and beach relaxation....including a large green yard with huge maple tree, and a new ipe deck for lounging and dining off the eat-in kitchen (includes a raised-bed herb garden). We are in the process of putting in new plantings around the house, and fixing the exterior window treatment (hence the spare look in the pix.) We are a semi-retired couple in our 60's with flexible schedules, who love to travel. We own two homes - one in Boston/Belmont near Harvard, MIT, Boston University, etc., and one in Niantic CT, close to the shoreline. Each is available for exchanges (or even both together), either simultaneously or non-simultaneously. Our Niantic home is available for short-term rentals. More photos on request. See Listing 149223 for information related to our Boston/Belmont home. More on the home: full driveway holding four cars; 1st floor features eat-in kitchen, living room, dining room, bath, and one bedroom. Up the center staircase to a second bath, and large bedrooms on left and right...A Cape home with a large dormer on the back makes for a light-filled airy stay. Window ACs in all bedrooms, living room and dining. Good breezes and salt air make for great sleeping and relaxation. The large yard is ideal for croquet, wiffle ball, etc.... Supplies in the shed. 21 speed hybrid Bike (possibly two) in the shed.
