Large sunny home in Southern France

Hi we are an American couple living in France. Our 210 square meter 3 story village home is entirely renovated and modernized while keeping many of it's original features from 1865. There is plenty of room to sleep six people with 1 queen bedroom, one king bedroom and one double twin bed room. All bedrooms are 35 square meters giving plenty of room to spread out. Two bedrooms are on the top floor, both ensuite. The king size bedroom has a walk in Italian shower and the twin beds room has a bath with shower over and a separate toilet.

On the first floor you have the queen bedroom, ensuite with shower and the large living room with plenty of seating, a large flat screen, wall mounted television with British satellite and an equipped bar with frig/freezer. Leading from the living room through double floor to ceiling French doors is the large terrace with pretty views of the rooftops and hills beyond. There are 2 BBQs, one charcoal and one gas, both Webers, table and chairs for six, two smaller tables for two, 2 loungers, 2 sun beds, and a matched set of 2 rattan chairs with cushions, footstools and end tables. 1 very large and 3 medium sized umbrellas in stands completes this space. Flowers abound!

The ground floor has a pretty entry with space for hanging coats, lovely sitting room with gas fireplace and satellite TV, small office, very large modern open kitchen with all new appliances including, frig, oven, stove top, microwave and dishwasher. The kichen is open to the dining room with gas fireplace and table and chairs enough to seat 12. Off this is a separate laundry area with clothes washer and a 4th shower room. Off this is the double garage housing an additional large frig/freezer and the clothes dryer. Two adult bicycles are provided.

The house is very light with large windows in all rooms. Central heating throughout the house and air conditioning in all bedrooms and living room. This is a very pretty and comfortable home in the pretty wine village of Azille.

There is much to see and do in the immediate environs with a 100 hectare lake within a 10 minute bike ride. Lac Jouarres has extensive bike and walking paths, grassy and sandy areas for sunbathing, trees for shade, fishing, swimming, a nice restaurant with outside terrace, and canoes and windsurfing for rental.

There are many lovely restaurants on the Canal du Midi in the villages of Homps, Trebes, and Argens-Minervois where you can sit and watch the passenger boats gliding along the canal.

You can visit the many wineries for tastings with one of the best being, Chateau Guery which is a few steps from the house! Within the village you can walk to the boulangerie, the epiciere, the bar/cafe, English tea room, restaurant, post office, pharmacy, 2 coiffeuse, and visit the two art galleries. Fetes, festivities and vide greniers are frequent in our village. Great biking trails on the backroads and through the vineyards.

Within 10 minutes drive there are two good sized grocery stores where you can find just about anything you need if you haven't already found it in our village outdoor market Friday morning or one of the larger outdoor markets in nearby villages of Olonzac and Lezignan-Corbieres.

About 30 minutes either way you can make a visit to either Carcassonne with it's famous La Cite, or Narbonne with it's large and very good Les Halle's market.

Within 45 minutes you can be lieing on the beach at Narbonne Plage and enjoying a swim in the lovely Mediterranean Sea.

All in all, the house, the village, and the close environs coupled with over 300 days of sunshine per year make this a wonderful area to live and to visit. Hope to hear from you soon.

We have a small Yorkshire terrier who almost always travels with us. Therefore we try to only exchange with places that accept pets. He is a very good little gentleman.

About Me
We are a "young" recently retired educator couple off on an adventure in France. After each of our 3o+ years of public school administration we finally have the time to see the world. We live 9 months each year in our French house (January-September) and 3 months each year in our beach house in Cannon Beach, Oregon (October-December). We have had 5 successful house exchanges and look forward to many more in the future. When in France we like to exchange in Europe and when in Oregon we like to exchange in the USA. Our french house is available year round and our Oregon beach house is available Sept. through March. We have a little yorkshire terrier "Archie" and tend to try to take him everywhere since he is so well-behaved and loveable, but we do have lots of friends who will doggy sit if needed. Since we are retired we are available to do exchanges throughout all times of the year and can sometimes work out non-simultaneous exchanges if need be. Give us a call. We'd love to meet you :)!

Excellent house, fully and well equipped. The surroundings are great. Wine lovers will appreciate the wineries. Many cycling routes. Beautiful parts of Canal de Midi in Homps and La Redourte. Several interesting places for a day trip (Narbonne 35 minutes, Carcassonne 30 minutes, Minerve 30 minutes...). Internet available, great sunny terrace, air conditioning, satellite TV... Michelle and Carl are fantastical hosts, ask for recommendations! Excellent Oliver Strunk 8/15/2014 8:10:00 AM
