Hi we are an American couple living in France. Our 210 square meter 3 story village home is entirely renovated and modernized while keeping many of it's original features from 1865. There is plenty of room to sleep six people with 1 queen bedroom, one king bedroom and one double twin bed room. All bedrooms are 35 square meters giving plenty of room to spread out. Two bedrooms are on the top floor, both ensuite. The king size bedroom has a walk in Italian shower and the twin beds room has a bath with shower over and a separate toilet. On the first floor you have the queen bedroom, ensuite with shower and the large living room with plenty of seating, a large flat screen, wall mounted television with British satellite and an equipped bar with frig/freezer. Leading from the living room through double floor to ceiling French doors is the large terrace with pretty views of the rooftops and hills beyond. There are 2 BBQs, one charcoal and one gas, both Webers, table and chairs for six, two smaller tables for two, 2 loungers, 2 sun beds, and a matched set of 2 rattan chairs with cushions, footstools and end tables. 1 very large and 3 medium sized umbrellas in stands completes this space. Flowers abound! The ground floor has a pretty entry with space for hanging coats, lovely sitting room with gas fireplace and satellite TV, small office, very large modern open kitchen with all new appliances including, frig, oven, stove top, microwave and dishwasher. The kichen is open to the dining room with gas fireplace and table and chairs enough to seat 12. Off this is a separate laundry area with clothes washer and a 4th shower room. Off this is the double garage housing an additional large frig/freezer and the clothes dryer. Two adult bicycles are provided. The house is very light with large windows in all rooms. Central heating throughout the house and air conditioning in all bedrooms and living room. This is a very pretty and comfortable home in the pretty wine village of Azille. There is much to see and do in the immediate environs with a 100 hectare lake within a 10 minute bike ride. Lac Jouarres has extensive bike and walking paths, grassy and sandy areas for sunbathing, trees for shade, fishing, swimming, a nice restaurant with outside terrace, and canoes and windsurfing for rental. There are many lovely restaurants on the Canal du Midi in the villages of Homps, Trebes, and Argens-Minervois where you can sit and watch the passenger boats gliding along the canal. You can visit the many wineries for tastings with one of the best being, Chateau Guery which is a few steps from the house! Within the village you can walk to the boulangerie, the épicière, the bar/cafe, post office, pharmacy, 2 coiffeuse, and visit the art gallery. Fetes, festivities and vide greniers are frequent in our village. Great biking trails on the backroads and through the vineyards. Within 10 minutes drive there are two good sized grocery stores where you can find just about anything you need if you haven't already found it in our village outdoor market Friday morning or one of the larger outdoor markets in nearby villages of Olonzac and Lezignan-Corbieres. About 30 minutes either way you can make a visit to either Carcassonne with it's famous La Cite, or Narbonne with it's large and very good Les Halle's market. Within 45 minutes you can be lieing on the beach at Narbonne Plage or Gruissan Plage 8and enjoying a swim in the lovely Mediterranean Sea. All in all, the house, the village, and the close environs coupled with over 300 days of sunshine per year make this a wonderful area to live and to visit. Hope to hear from you soon.
