About Me
After earning a doctorate in Human Development at Harvard, I relocated to Berkeley for a post-doc. My book, The Girl Within, based on that work, was published by Dutton in 1989 and issued in paperback by Ballantine in 1990. After that, I started Moxie - for the Woman who Dares, an award-winning print magazine that was distributed nationwide. After three years, I closed Moxie and did some part-time work as a personal historian, while also working as a professional court mediator settling custody disputes. I have lived in a Berkeley bungalow 1 mile north of campus for over 25 years. I retired from my work as a child-custody mediator in 2013. I have been working episodically on a memoir since then. Before pursuing my doctorate, I lived in Upstate New York and worked in the arts, which often took me to New York City. I have always felt I belonged in New York. It is high time to circle back to the city, where I can pursue my truest objective: to become, at last, a native New Yorker.
