Beautiful 1920s Cabin on an Island in the Adirondacks for Exchange
This historic beautifully renovated and maintained cottage sits on an island on Rainbow Lake in the heart of the Adirondacks. It features a majestic traditional two slip boathouse with ample dining and sitting areas on top (it also has a gas bbq). The camp comfortably sleeps six (two master bedrooms, one with a double bed, the other with a king bed and private bathroom, and one children's room with a hand build solid maple bunk bed. It has has one full bath (with a beautiful antique clawfoot tub) and one half bath and is fully furnished and fully equipped, including with high speed internet. It also features a writing room.
The property features sweeping views of Rainbow lake on both sides of the esker. The trail from the house leads, in about 100 yards, to ADK park land (it is the second to last house on the Esker, after that there are two miles of protected esker). The living room has a Jotul wood burning stove set into a stone masonry fire place. The entire cottage has been tastefully renovated by the previous owner, a renowned builder/restorer/designer. The main room has wall to ceiling douglas fir paneling. The kitchen has all hand built and designed solid maple cabinetery and shelving. The house also features a screened in porch with capacious views of the lake.
The property is large, wood covered, and also features a tent platform with sweeping views of the lake. The property has direct access to miles of the some of the Adirondack's best canoing and fishing, and has easy access to excellent hiking.
We are a Canadian/American academic family who live and teach in Montreal. We cannot get to our cabin because of the travel restrictions and are looking to exchange this cabin for something similar in Canada.
