3 bed, 2 bath geodesic dome for rent

Our home is a two-story geodesic dome. It is roughly 1300 square feet with 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. The kitchen is open to the small living room area, which is open to the second story loft. The kitchen has a large island, gas stove/oven. There is a dedicated laundry room and convenient entry room with some storage.

We can rent the house fully or partly furnished. Because it is a unique space, leaving it furnished is likely easier than trying to fit furniture from a traditional house into the home.

The house efficiently uses space and is a very open floor plan. Radiant heat is in the concrete floor, a large ceiling fan and very efficient windows and blinds keep the house cool in the heat - heat circulates up and out a skylight window at the top of the dome. Every room as a ceiling fan.

There is a garage in the front of the house that effectively hides the house from the street view, part of the large garage we will use for storage, one car can fit in the remaining space. There is space to park three cars in front of the garage.

Our back yard is very private and there is a large outdoor dining/gathering space that can be used roughly 9 months out of the year, thus greatly expanding the living space of the home. We have a large greenhouse and chicken coop for anyone interested in these things. There is also a large children's fort with a climbing wall on one side.

Our home is located in the old Los Griegos part of Albuquerque's North Valley, it is on a dead-end street with very little traffic. We are less than a 5-minute drive from the Rio Grande River and the trail system there, and a 15-minute drive to the Sandia Mountain foothills. I-25 and I-40 can each be reached in 5 minutes. The University of New Mexico main campus us roughly a 10-15 drive.

My husband and I both have a background in fine arts, a foundation that informs our work as a carpenter and teacher. I am a garden integration teacher at a dual language elementary school, which means I develop curriculum for our school garden that applies classroom learning, and I teach totally in Spanish. We intend to rent our home - a very unique one - while we take a year off to travel around the "southern cone" region of South America, homeschooling our son and emphasizing his growing global perspective.
