Dillinger House near JPL and Angeles National Forest

Dillinger House is a comfortable, fully furnished, 1953 mid-century cinder block home in the Altadena foothills (designed by noted architect Ken Gordon) appropriate for professionals requiring extended stay accommodations.

Located off a private road in a quiet, semi-rural neighborhood on the boundary of Angeles National Forest with hiking, mountain biking and equestrian trail access and parkland adjacent. ~2 miles from JPL and close to Caltech & Pasadena. Beautiful views, excellent birding & relatively dark skies.

The home has 3 bedrooms and a study (though one bedroom can be configured as a 2nd office + there is a single sleeper sofa in the study for guests); oak hardwood floors with radiant heat, full dining room, large fireplace, living room, some antiques. It is completely furnished including all major & small appliances, dinnerware (including sets of fine old bone china & crystal), utensils, pots/pans, cooking spices, tea & coffee, natural cotton bed linens, down comforters, towels, office desk (including supplies, including a working manual typewriter), a large selection of books, local maps, vintage game sets & chess, etc. TV/DVD/VHS, DISH satellite service (with NASA TV), Bose wave radio/CD player; wi-fi; solar power system. Organic garden, fruit trees; patio dining, small BBQ, bird bath & feeders. Two car garage + additional off-street (private) parking. All necessities included, just bring your own toothbrush & clothes.

Particulars, additional photos, and tours of the home available upon request; current tenants permitting. Dillinger House is rented for a minimum stay of one month (dates are flexible). Rate is negotiable depending upon length of stay and lease terms TBD. Please note: The Dillinger House is a rental home; it is not available as an exchange property or house-sitting arrangement.

About Me
Robert Staehle and I have been privileged to work many years for NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) that is operated by CALTECH. JPL is a world-renowned center for robotic exploration of space, from Earth observing instruments, to rovers on Mars, to stars beyond our own Solar System. We enjoy hosting visiting scientists, engineers, writers, and multimedia producers in the Dillinger House... as well as meeting interesting persons from all walks of life. Prior to my career at JPL, I was a Zoo Keeper at the Los Angeles Zoo. As a wildlife biologist, I am interested in the intersection between the physical and biological sciences. We enjoy the local wildlife, wildflowers, trails, and rugged vistas in Angeles National Forest that forms the northern boundary of our home and the Dillinger House. Rob and I are cofounders of Tubb Canyon Desert Conservancy (TCDC). Lori
