Charming Cape in Amherst, MA

This quaint, single family, Cape Cod home in North Amherst, Massachusetts contains 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a light-filled, cathedral-like, garden room that looks out onto the woods. As an integral part of a diverse family-friendly street, the front yard extends to the neighborhood where children play, basketballs are bounced and birds chirp. Behind the house is conservation land for a woodsy view while sipping a morning brew. There's a screened in patio which makes a lovely place to dine al fresco while listening to the birds and frogs at dawn to dusk. Inside the house, one is constantly aware of the outside with large windows framing ancient pines.

All modern conveniences needed are available. The appliances include: dishwasher, washing/dryer, fridge/ freezer, garbage disposal, glass top range, oven and outdoor grill. For cooler evenings, there is a pellet stove in dining/living room, wood burning stove in garden room and forced air throughout the main house. Propane heat is also available in garden room. An attic fan, and an a/c unit are provided for the summer months. Flooring is predominantly hardwood, except bathrooms and kitchen which are linoleum and tile. A wonderful place to call home for a summer expedition in a university town in the countryside. Green acres we are there!

The location is exceptional. The house is:
-A ten-minute walk to Puffer's Pond: a local swimming hole and beach spot
-A five minute walk to North Amherst Public Library
-A convenience store, pharmacy and Atkins Market. Walk to the Mill River Conservation area with pool and playground or to the library & convenience shopping. Follow Pine St. to the Rt.116 connector to Hadley shopping
-A hip cafe and market is a fifteen-minute walk away with an outdoor patio where you can watch the trains go by at 9 and 4 each day.
-Walking trails in the woods are a hop, skip and a jump away.
-Mill River Recreational Park is a five-minute walk and includes basketball and tennis courts, playground, picnic facilities as well as a lap and kiddie pool.
-Five-minute drive to downtown Amherst where you will find an abundance of restaurants, stores and college greens.
-In August, there are many outdoor concerts, Shakespeare plays and festivals

About Me
We are a family of three. I am a public interest attorney and non profit director. My wife is a high school Spanish teacher. Our daughter is 11 going into 6th grade. We love our house, and we think you will too! We are posting here because I will be taking a sabbatical from my work to travel with my family for the month of August.
