Welcome to your own French Retreat, in cozy Aniane near University of Montpellier,le Pont du Diable, les Cévennes, and la Med
Our quintessential row house has preserved all of its glory and original charm despite recent renovations. Sipping your morning coffee or enjoying a fine glass of local wine on our terrace for two with the neighboring chapel bells ringing twice an hour, reminds you that you are far from homeā¦
The lanes in and around our home have been redesignated for foot traffic only: peace and quiet as well as a safe place to play for children and to dine outdoors. Set up the bbq and invite your neighbor for an apéro.
This home is among the rare ones to offer a garage for off street parking.
We come to live here full-time every few years. It is therefore fully equipped. We love the entry into the vaulted basement which is typical of this area. Candle-lit apéros are de rigueur here. The salon-jardin can be enjoyed for meals, boardgames, or just watching the kids play on the quiet lane in front of the house. Upstairs, we enjoy the very large, sunny kitchen and adjoining salon/dining room. Have your family meals in the spacious kitchen or retreat to the salon with your friends to break bread. Up one flight of stairs, each of the 3 main bedrooms are decorated in French Mediterranean with peace and comfort in mind. There are French country, Provencal and Moroccan themes to behold. Above all of the bedrooms, lies a cozy office or bedroom retreat. Our latest addition is the renovated attic for peace and quiet as well as a sound night's sleep.
The most common feedback we've heard from friends who have stayed in our home is how easy it was to step into French life and feel at home (with any level of French language.) The neighbors and local merchants are friendly, the town is always celebrating something, and there is plenty to do and see for all tastes. The surrounding region is the largest wine producer of France - Lanquedoc Roussillon. We appreciate it for being as good as the famous regions but less well-known, like a best kept secret.
We have schooled our children in the village. If you are thinking of doing the same, we would be happy to guide you and to provide contacts for registration.
Here is a convenient web site we stumbled upon with thorough information about what to see in this region.
