Bet's B&B is a clean, spacious, fully self-contained, two-level studio in Annandale, just 2 miles from Sydney’s CBD.

Walk to the University of Sydney (15 minutes) or take the bus (10 minutes). The University of Technology Sydney is just 15 minutes by bus, and the University of NSW is a 30-minutes bus ride.

Bet’s B&B is big – 580 square feet – with cedar fixtures, exposed brick, timber flooring, and a soaring ceiling of high-arched timber beams.

The B&B is separate from the house. Guests have their own private street entrance, so you can come and go as you please.

Generous breakfast provisions are provided daily and can be varied to suit your needs. With a fully equipped kitchenette you can cook what you want when you want.

The studio is spread over two levels. Upstairs is a comfortable Queen-size bed, two bedside tables, a wardrobe and a cabinet. There’s a writing desk, high-speed Wi-Fi, a four-seat dining table, two modern leather sofas (three- and two-seats), a large flat-screen TV and an extensive DVD collection.

Downstairs is the bathroom: a spacious shower, toilet, a washing machine and clothes dryer. There’s a hair dryer and ironing facilities, too.

The studio is airy and sun-filled. Two skylights and a large garden-facing window provide fresh air. There’s also reverse-cycle air-conditioning for winter warmth and summer coolness.

Bet’s B&B is close to public transport – bus and light rail. The bus stop is five minutes’ walk from Bet’s B&B. There are two bus services – 470 and 370.

Bus 470 takes you to Sydney’s CBD in 20 minutes. Along the route you pass the University of Sydney, Broadway Shopping Centre, the University of Technology Sydney, Central Railway Station, Chinatown, Hyde Park and Martin Place (Sydney’s retail and business hub).

Bus 370 travels to Coogee Beach. Along the route you travel past the University of Sydney, Broadway Shopping Centre, the café and restaurant district of Newtown, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, the University of NSW and on to Coogee Beach.

Annandale is one of Sydney’s oldest suburbs. It village-like atmosphere is enhanced with scores of historic houses, wide tree-lined streets, more than 25 cafés and restaurants, and several pubs and supermarkets. On its northern boundary are 17 hectares of foreshore parks, criss-crossed by walking, cycling and jogging tracks that lead to Sydney’s popular Fish Market and further on to Darling Harbour and into the city.

Annandale’s neighbouring suburbs – each just 10 minutes’ bus ride away – include: Newtown (Sydney’s bohemian heartland renowned for its restaurants, pubs and nightlife); Glebe (a hot spot for good food and entertainment); and Leichhardt (Sydney’s ‘Little Italy’ with its bustling strip of restaurants and cafes).

About Me
We opened Bet’s B&B in 2005. It was a lifestyle choice: meet new people and supplement our income. Both of us are retired (Bet’s a former advertising executive and Keith’s a former foreign correspondent) and we liked the idea of a bed and breakfast, but not a B&B where we shared our house. Instead, we converted our architect-designed two-storey studio at the bottom of our garden into a totally self-contained B&B. You’re in charge. With your own street entrance you can come and go as you please and the kitchenette, the bathroom, laundry, lounge and dining areas are all yours. We offer clean, modern and quality furnishings and appliances, fast Internet connection and generous daily breakfast provisions. Yes, thank goodness, we don't have to cook your breakfast every morning. There is plenty of space to relax and to work. And don’t forget: Sydney’s university belt is just minutes away.
