Beautiful stone house with 2 acre garden 22 kilometers from Lyon

The house is well situated and is close to many facilities (shops, town hall, church, railway and bus stations, easy access to motorway: 7 kilometers….). It is located in beautiful Beaujolais countryside. The house is an ideal starting point for excursions, walks and visits to a region which has rich historical, cultural and gastronomic traditions (Romanesque churches, wine tasting, villages with typical Beaujolais golden stone. We are in the south of the burgundy area. Lyon is 20 mns away by train, 45 mns by bus and 35 to 40 mns by car. The beautiful town of Villefranche sur Saône is 8 km away. The village of Oingt, which has been selected as one of the most beautiful villages of France, is situated 15 km away. The famous Château de Bagnols is only 10 km away.
This family house was totally redecorated recently. It has a ground floor, an upstairs area and a basement.
On the ground floor :
- a large equipped kitchen : dishwasher, fridge, oven, a gas and electric cooker (east facing room)
- a living room (south – west facing)
- -a dining room (south facing)
- a bedroom : single bed with its own shower (west facing)
- a hallway
- a restroom
Upstairs:
- Four bedrooms, three of which have double beds and one smaller one with signle bed (est or west facing)
- a large bathroom
Basement:
- a large area where the laundry is located
The south side of the house has a large terrace, a part of which is sheltered where it is possible to eat in all weathers.
There are many trees in the garden and in summer the garden furniture enables you to enjoy living outside: naps; long summer evenings

We had such a wonderful year in this beautiful house in Anse. The house itself is beautiful - larger than it looks in the pictures, in a gorgeous, park-like setting, and with warm and wonderful neighbours. Anse is a fabulous town, and the house is wonderfully located. We were within walking distance of several Patisseries, a butcher, a grocery store, and a fantastic pizza shop. We enjoyed walking everywhere, made close friends, and really appreciated how friendly the immediate neighbourhood was. Catherine enrolled our kids in school for us, and they had a fabulous experience, leaving with close friends and an incredible French education. Lyon was easily accessible by train, and we took full advantage of our proximity to the city. Even more special, though, was the time we spent walking through the beautiful Beaujolais hills, and watching the year unfold in Anse - we learned to mark time through the different Feast Days celebrated at the local Patisserie. Aimé was a fantastic host, and wonderful with our girls - he taught them French and introduced us to the wine harvest, the cherry festival, etc. Paul (Aimé's brother) and his wife, Maguey, live next door, and we have such fond memories of them and their generosity too. We can't recommend this house highly enough, especially for families with children. Excellent IslandHome 6/20/2017 10:09:00 PM
We are from San Francisco, California with two children ages six and nine. We have had a magical year at this house in Anse, a half hour north of Lyon. We visited in June of 2015 and were immediately taken both with the house and garden and with the warmth of our hosts Catherine and Aimé. We arranged to come back for our sabbatical from August 2016 until July of 2017 and are very glad that we chose this place. Firstly our hosts are fantastic. We speak good French, but previous sabbatical families haven't. Catherine speaks good English (in fact she teaches classes in English at a business school in Lyon) and Aimé speaks some as well. They are really wonderful people and have done so much to add to our year here. Before we came Catherine registered our kids for school, Aimé once picked the kids up when I missed my train, they have shown our kids how to garden, had us over for lovely meals, brought us to harvest grapes at a friend's winery, had us to their cherry festival, etc. Aimé's brother lives next door as well and he and his wife Maguey are also delightful people who have shared their life with us. The next great feature of this place is its location. It has an enormous garden, the size of a city park, with swings, two vegetable gardens, cherry trees, apple trees, pear trees, a kiwi tree, etc. Our kids have reveled in being able to race around the garden with their friends. The house is right in the center of Anse, one minute from a Tabac, the city hall and a bank, three minutes from the elementary school, five minutes from a supermarket and the train station and a bakery. It's good to have a car for getting out to the Beaujolais countryside, but we rarely use the car other than weekends. I love getting around on foot. Also the house is along a street which has an amazing set of neighbors and sense of community. Right after we arrived the neighbors invited us over to dinner and our kids were racing around with their kids, having sleepovers and becoming thick as thieves. It's rare that I go for an errand without stopping to chat with someone that I have met. There are even parties for the street several times a year. If you come from a larger city, you may think of renting a place in the center of Lyon, but if you have children, I would strongly recommend that you consider being in a small town. There is such a sense of community and friendliness in a small town, especially this one, that you won't find in a big city like Lyon. I took the commuter train into Lyon regularly and found it quite pleasant and it was only late once. The house is traditional, with nice old furniture, a high tech oven, a stunning huge Wisteria vine around the front, where we eat dinner from April through October. There are five bedrooms and two bathrooms, which has allowed us to have guests stay and also have an office for my wife (who works online from home). I could go on and on, we have a million photos from our lovely year, but a big part of the success of the year was choosing this place. If you are interested send a query to Catherine and she can put you in touch with us.
