About Me
we currently live in Port Douglas, Queensland, where the Great Barrier Reef meets the Rainforest. I am a research scholar interested in the environmental markets, while my partner David grapples with astrobiology and the origins of life. We have a home in Arles, southern France (Camargue/Provence) that we rent out for holidays lets. I am interested in longer term letting over the winter.

If there is such a thing as paradise on earth, this amazing tropical pole home might be it. Being gently awoken by the wonderful sounds and smells of the rainforest is just one of the many unexpected perks that blew us away during our month-long stay in July 2017. Our trip came at the tail end of a long sabbatical at the University Melbourne and friends had recommended that we escape from the Victorian winter before returning home to England so we searched Sabbatical Homes for suitable offers. We couldn’t have been luckier! Rebecca and David are among the friendliest, savviest and most helpful hosts we have ever had. They were even kind enough to let us use their small car since a rental would have cost us an arm and a leg during peak season. Being a family with two lively children, we were slightly worried about the delicate interior and exquisite artefacts in the house but Rebecca and David put our mind at ease and were very graceful about a small breakage that did happen. The kitchen and patio are wonderful for long, lazy dinners and we enjoyed the evenings in the spacious and unique lounge, reading or playing games. The swimming pool is another bonus which made us feel like we had our own private resort. Needless to say, our days in Killaloe went by in the blink of an eye and although we were sad to bid farewell to this quirky and beautiful house and garden, we took some of the best memories of our Australian sabbatical with us on the flight back home. We stayed in Jardin Secret in late 2015 and it was lovely. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to stay in a beautiful, atmospheric home in the old Roman city of Arles. Excellent mkc 3/2/2016 4:51:00 PM
